One of the NPCs I have for a D&D session I DM.
Copied and pasted from my Twitter:
Moria is a Half-Elf who established a business in Cestina, a port town, during its earlier days.
What once started as nothing more than an inn eventually had to adapt and evolve, thus opening up a service of prostitution for those seeking the pleasures of the flesh.
People look at her in dismay for inciting the sin of lust with her whorish business, but Moria cares not.
To her, she's done a great thing of making the most out of every opportunity that came her way. Sure, her business is not ideal for most people, but it's thanks to it that she's able to give a home and protection for those who cannot afford it.
Unfortunately, in passing time, people grew more hateful either due to its sinful existence or merely through jealously. A mob formed outside Moria's inn, threatening to burn the place down. She was given the choice of leaving Cestina or perishing along with her immoral inn.
It was here that an unexpected benefactor came to her aid. Through the use of their magic, the Lily Family supressed the mob's anger and peacefully resolved things.
Moria expressed her gratitude in as many ways she could think of, but the Lily Family asked for nothing in return.
Over time, her bond with the family grew stronger and stronger. The Lily Family was well-known for their business that dealt with all things flower related and so, Moria's inn was given a makeover to at least looked more presentable.
Also, the family taught her magic for self-defence.
There was, however, a strange incident that befell on the Lily Family some years ago. Out of nowhere, members of it disappeared without a trace. It all happened in one night and no one has a clue as to what happened. And strangely, still to this day their business persists.
The Lily Family is a noble family that Calla Lily (My friend's character: twitter/Xonitum) belonged to. They excelled in spellcasting, with their sorcerous lineage having an affinity for wielding and manipulating time.
They disappeared after Calla read a mysterious tome.
