A 3D pancake. With butter and syrup.

Well it's not really much of a pancake. You definetely need to work on improving your ideas and portraying them better.

For one thing, its way too perfect adn circular, a normal pancake needs to be rough and irregular, it's one of the things which make a pancake a pancake.

The butter and syrup look pretty good but still, way too regular and perfect. You need to work on that.

There was no background so tah reduced your score even more. The use of a background is important in pictures like this one, as it provides a more varied and interesting piece of art.

That's basically it, work on this more and you mgiht get a better score next time.

Thanks for the review. Apparently the lack of flaws is one of the biggest flaws, that and no background.

Barely 3D

Sorry, but it's not really what I'm after in a 3D image on Newgrounds. I think that you've taken the time to come up with a decent looking pancake, except that it's got no detail to it, no pancake is ever perfect, the butter looks manufactured perfect and the syrup even dribbles in patterns that are "too nice" to be real.

You need a background for this - a nice little diner, where the waitress is friendly and helpful. Then you need to add a plate to it all, so that the pancake has some sense of belonging, rather than just being a single piece, with little juxtaposition.

Yeah, the pancake is too pretty. Like one of the food models you see on cheesy, restaurant commercials but with too much make-up. And, the lack of background seems to really bother everybody. Thanks, for the review.

Bland with lack of detail

I didn't really enjoy this just because its so simple. You could've at least drawn a plate and a table. The pancake looks very boring but when it comes to pancakes you get only go so far. So it would have been best not to try to draw something like this in the first place. And if you do. Give it something to spice it up! Like a face or whatever. I can't really see what you were trying with this but the art just didn't work out never the less.

Alright, it is pretty simple. I guess some people don't like pancakes. I don't know why a pancake would have a face, but a background would be good. Thanks for the review.

You got my mouth watering...

...But the fact that it looks so computer-made bothers me too much for me to enjoy it.

The colours are quite good, although I think the butter was a little too pale, and the syrup was too dark. The pancake's colour was great, though. Nice shading, it made it look very 3D.

As the other reviewers said, this looks too perfect. Pancakes have darker spots, and this came out like a perfect circle. Also, the syrup was spread really strangely, since the top part has the syrup trickling away from the middle, and the bottom part doesn't. Also, the way it trickled down was pretty wierd too.

A background over here would be great too, like a table, with the pancake on a plate and a fork and knife at the side or something.

It's not too bad (Who could say no to 3D pancakes? :D :D) but looks too computer-made and plain.

chesster415 responds:

Yeah, it's really plain, although butter really isn't as yellow as people imagine. It's really more of an off-white cream color. I don't buy prepackaged syrup so it's probably darker and thinner than most peoples. Also everything in my house, tilts toward the back of the stove. Any thing we cook is a little lopsided. I guess I've gotten too used to it. And a background is probably a good idea. Thanks for the review.

I just had some pancakes last week and I have to agree with Fro. This one liiks too sterile. A "real" pancake is not equally roasted (is this the right word to use here?), it has some darker spots on the one side while the other is brighter. Also it isn't equally thick on all spots.
So, at first I thought this was some kind of tray with melted butter on it.

Speaking of the butter and the syrup: They look pretty good. It looks as if the butter is just about to melt.
But the syrup looks a bit "unrealistic" how it runs over the cake. Well, I don't have that much experience with syrup on pancakes, but especially at the edge, where it runs over it doesn't look too good.

Yeah, I usually fry pancakes, and end up with a darker ring around where the burner is. They also don't turn out perfectly round. But I can generally make my pancakes equally thick all around. And only one side has bubbles, if you do it right. I hadn't made pancakes in a while, and was going from memory. My syrup always runs off the side of my pancakes. Maybe I don't pour it well enough, or maybe I need to make thicker syrup, (but I like it thin). But I can see how the run off, is a bit abnormal especially for such a smooth pancake. Thanks, for reviewing.
