At first I had some trouble coming up with an idea for this C.O.T.M. After thinking about different ways to interpret the theme, I decided to take it literal. So, I started out with painting the b/w face on canvas using acrylic paint. I took a picture of it and tried to incorporate it into a digitally painted environment. To intensify the difference between the traditional and the digital part, I also wanted to use two different art styles.
Now, my idea was to digitally draw a comic-style character, who is traditionally painting a portrait in a rather realistic art style. I had the girl do what I did when was painting on the canvas. It was one of the first warm days this year, so I could leave the window open the whole day. In the late afternoon, just when it started to get windy, I fell asleep on the floor while still painting.

I still have so much to learn when it comes to drawing, traditionally and especially digitally. Reading about different techniques and watching tutorials is helping me a lot. They keep me motivated and encourage me to try new things and, instead of thinking: "I'm not talented enough", keep trying and practicing.

That day I woke up to a spilled cup of colored water all over the floor. But it was okay, because I woke up to a painting I was fairly happy with and because I found myself doing what I love.

I like the idea and how you executed it. The contrast between comic style and acrylic painting makes the piece interesting. :)
