The final version of my Spider-Verse oc, Poison-Dart! He's gone through a lot of design changes over the course of a couple of years but now he's in a good position now.

Our story begins in 2003 in NYC. All is well, until an earthquake fucked the city's shit up. Five of them actually. In a row. Naturally, this caused quite a disaster.

In the ten-hour carnage and the endless weeks of aftershocks that followed, New York was left completely changed. By third quake, the shelf that the sprawling city once rested on was flooded with Upper Bay water. By the fifth, all of Manhattan was under the waves. Millions died, many more were injured or missing. The surrounding neighborhoods near the city didn't fare much better either; damaged beyond repair by the quakes.

In the fallout, the American government quickly stepped in to try to pick up the pieces. But the disaster relief and cleanup task was insurmountable. FEMA's and the military's resources quickly depleted following extensive effort to help people escaping the area and those still trapped in the epicenter in Manhattan.

With no options left and their ability to manage the crisis dashed, the government turned to more.....corporate aid.

A total of 50 big companies came forward to help once again bring aid and order to the now-underwater ruins of Manhattan and it's people. In a government-sponsored agreement called The Manhattan Trust, all 50 companies agreed to band together and rebuild New York from the ground up for America. In exchange, those companies would have unilateral control over the region, as well as generous rewards from the government once rebuilding is all said and done. With that, the conglomerate set to work reshaping New York, bringing with it new hope that some day it will return to it's former glory.

18 years later....and things really didn't work out as the government planned. But then again, what does?

In 2022, those 50 companies, now called The Trust, has supplanted themselves as government in the Manhattan area within the layered areas of the protected zones. At the center of all of them, Trust City. A grey mass of towers that house the original 50 that shook hands with the government all those years ago. All of it's citizens live and work for those companies.

Just south of Trust City, divided by a wall bisecting the Manhattan shelf, lies what's left of New York's original populace. These thousands live in the teetering, submerged ruins of former glory and have adapted to a life of living in old buildings above water. Those in Trust City call this place "The Open Manhole". But those that live there call it by its proper, original title: New York.

For years since The Trust was first erected, they've ruled over the remains of the New York community as a totalitarian city-state. When they're not testing illegal products on the populace or outright kidnapping people for experiments, The Trust maintains it's grip on New York through surveillance and brutal militaristic police.

Thus the stage for our story is set: A community under the thumb of corporate control, its people struggling to survive, and hope seems scant among the people.

Our story begins proper with one person; a citizen of New York, the Open Manhole. Hardship, heartbreak and fate itself will coalesce together to transform him into the hero New York deserves.

His name is Tanner Morales.

The one and only Poison-Dart.
