For this weeks piece I’ve chosen to paint KiKi from the animated move, Kiki’s Delivery Service. First appearing in 1989 the movie is often considered to be one of the finest animated movies of all time and has a huge, dedicated following (including myself!) Created by Studio Ghibli based on a series of children’s books. The story is about a young witch who leaves her countryside home and heads for the big city where she gets into all kinds of trouble!
This is actually a remake of a piece I first did back in early 2016 but I tried to do it in a more realistic style. I didn’t work…at all to be honest!

So I did always intend to re paint it but completely forgot about. Then about a month ago or so a number of people asked me if I was ever going to remake it which pushed me into finally doing it! This time I wanted to keep to the original design which is why it looks completely different. I also changed it to midday as I wanted the colours to be bright and vibrant the best I could which I think helps the piece to stand out. The piece was created using Corel Painter 11 and finished off with Photoshop CS3.
