These unsung heroes have to be some of the greatest people of all time. It's a shame we know so little about them due to Soviet secrecy. The whole world owes the thousands of liquidators a great debt of gratitude. If they hadn’t sacrificed their lives to contain Chernobyl, who knows how many would have died.
Here, they receive some tribute at last. You've done a great job of depicting the liquidators in their most glorious and arduous moment. Irradiated ash falls like snowflakes: deadly radiation bites at their feet, unseen if not for the telltale red bleeding at the bottom of the picture. Through it all, they stick together and do their best to save their comrades. The vivid, surreal colors produce a ghostlike effect. With the blackened heap of rubble behind them, the faceless liquidators feel like wraiths emerging from a howling darkness.
Unfortunately, the piece is a bit muddled and hard to read. It's not easy on the eye. Even so, it’s fantastic.
pretty bad shit went down there...
