"Oh please, I’m not clumsy. I just lack luck, that’s all…"

Darryl Hurley Turbot, also known as Darryl H. Turbot is the son of Cpt. Horatio Turbot. As a child, he was rescued from the sea and adopted by the captain. From there, he was raised and taught in the ways of the Turbot family. He lives in Adventure City and works as the manager of the Adventure Trade Harbour, alongside with his secretary, Jetsam. Darryl’s high status and high salary makes him known as the 'rich man' of the family.

Unlike his father, who is well known for his clumsiness and his vast knowledge of marine wildlife, Darryl is well known for his high charisma and his flashy sense of fashion. His charismatic personality can be compared to the likes of a salesman! He can convince others to do things that might be dubious to some, like buying his father's savoury squid jerky. He can be quite clumsy sometimes, but he never lets it stop him from being who he is.

He likes to spend his riches, from cigars, champagne, cologne, to colourful clothes! Not only that, he's not shy to show it as well. Darryl is very prideful with his signature sailboat, The Solenette, where he would sail to the seas in his free time, catching fish with his custom-made fishing rods. Even though some might find him to be too extravagant on his spending, Darryl believes he deserves to do so, as he worked hard to be where he is now.

Besides fishing, he also likes to indulge in things that he has enjoyed ever since his childhood, even though most of his peers find them odd and childish. For instance, Darryl still plays Pup Pup Boogie to this day, in fact, he plays it competitively! Because of that, he is a very active member of the Pup Pup Boogie Club in the Adventure City Arcade Centre. He would participate in the club’s monthly competitions and be in one of the Top 3 in the leaderboards.

Occasionally, with Taylor Turbot, they would travel together to capture photographs of animals, or walk around the Dino Wilds. Their relationship is similar to Cpt. Turbot and his cousin, Francois, both share the same interest, but often argue. Darryl would often get Taylor to break from her jovial demeanour, as he has the habit of attempting to do something risky, or being reckless, due to his overconfidence and his lack of self-regard. Thus, Taylor has to constantly keep an eye on him when travelling.

Despite being seen by others as a stern man with “high class” and “high reputation”, Darryl is very jovial and a very humble man. Darryl’s humility shines when he is with his papa. Even though he is often busy managing the Adventure Trade Harbour, he always has the time with his father, either helping him in the Flounder, or just spending leisure time together. He is also greatly generous when it comes to his papa, often buying him gifts or sponsoring his papa’s research.

However, if someone is trying to mess with his father, Darryl can be a menacing man. Darryl believes that some people might try to take advantage of his father due to his kind-hearted nature. In addition, he despises pirates due to his traumatic encounters with them. Since the Adventure Trade Harbour is notoriously known for being constantly targeted by pirates, he does not tolerate them! He would go great lengths to keep pesky pirates away from the harbour, regardless of what happens to them…

Fun Facts!

• Darryl is trilingual! He is able to speak, read and write English, French, and Japanese. (English and French being the most fluent, Japanese being the second.)

• He can communicate with animals, just like his father! He was taught how to communicate with animals at a young age and is very fond of them.

• Darryl’s special interests are pinnipeds, fishes and avians. His favourite animals in every category are the walrus, the Atlantic blue marlin and the blue-footed booby. 

• Besides 2000's pop music, he likes to listen to French House, Lounge and Shibuya-Kei music! (examples are Stephane Pompougnac, Louie Austen and Fantastic Plastic Machine)

• He is a light drinker, but he loves drinking alcohol, especially whiskey and champagne.

• He can sing very, very well, but only shows it off during karaoke nights.
