SBA - "In-game" test render

Share

Here's what I plan the finished "in-game" visuals of Soulless Beauty Aorta to look like, going for something that looks like it could realistically run on SEGA Saturn hardware. Here's my personal visual creation rules notes:

OVERALL AESTHETIC GOAL: Obscure 3D SEGA Saturn game

-RENDER in 1080p, EXPORT FINISHED VIDEO at 480p.

-Aspect ratio for opening scene and credits will be 16:9 in 1920x1080, aspect ratio for all other scenes will be 720x480.

-Frame will need to be cropped at the bottom in order to fit in the subtitles at the bottom without covering the frame itself. Keep this in mind during shooting.

-DON'T USE LIGHING, use emmission and baked lighting instead. If you want to change how something is lit, break it off into a seperate object and change the emission or baked lighting.

-NO MATERIALS, textures only

-Textures should be switched from LINEAR filtering to CLOSEST to keep pixelization and not make them blurry as shit like N64 textures

-Keep textures relatively small, nothing over 720p. This won't be fully SS accurate but I don't know exactly what I'm doing so I'm meeting the aesthetic in the middle lol

-Roughness cannot be adjusted

-Lower render framerate for shots with many assets on-screen to replicate frame drops

-Use LOD models for far off shots

-Bake lighting, brighten textures

-NO MOCAP, even if you somehow get the money for it
