These are legitimate questions that Wallop has for Max here, but once again, will only be met with some mild gas noises in response. It's not that Max isn't aware of issue with how their payment system works, or enjoys it, just sometimes there's nothing you can do about it.

Maybe some context for you all: Qurie's payment system is based on the social credit score. Someone like Max, who has become the Knight which is only 2nd to the Princess, will get a naturally higher boost to his credit so long as he stays in good relations with the common people. If he does as he's told, he can rent and purchase items without much fear of hitting a cap. When he's unpopular or fails in his tasks, the score will go down and he'll not be able to get normal amenities.

There are certainly flaws with this seeing how there is no good way to track how much money someone can have by the common man. Meaning that someone who has control of the servers can manually adjust these numbers how ever they please. It's only mildly controlled by a computer, because it still requires user feedback. Do people actually own what they earn? It's impossible to explain and it's unsure when this became the norm. Theory is that at some point the servers that held the original records were destroyed once already and this was the system they came up with as a temp solution but noone bothered to fix it.

The lower class people still use a physical currency just simply called "Coin" and Max often makes sure it keep a collection of coins to bargain with people who don't have to worry about a social credit score to survive. He grew up with this system because his mom never signed him up for the social media service when he was born. He'd been borrowing his mom's account to improve her score for her, because he's just a helpful and handy dude. He doesn't have the brain power to really over think why the social credit system is flawed, even more so when he's exhausted from a long day.

Despite these concepts sounding fairly topical, you're just gonna have to trust me that I came up with this before 2019 and I'm just putting it down in writing now. It just helps to see the nightmare that I came up with play out in real life so I can see just how horrible it actually is and how it would play out.
