Otis B. Driftwood

My October submission for the monthly art battle P.U.M.M.E.L. over at the Penciljack forums. We were all encouraged to pick "scary" or Halloween related topics, and I really wanted to do The Devil's Rejects by Rob Zombie, which is one of my favorite horror movies of all time. One of the most disturbing scenes from that movie (in my opinion) is the one in the very beginning of the movie where the serial-killer Otis is sleeping next to the dead, naked body of one of his victims. I decided to recreate that scene, using the famous John Lennon/Yoko Ono Rolling Stone cover as inspiration and photo reference.

The coloring job is a little rushed and far from as polished as I would have liked, but I ran out of time. Still fairly decent considering I only spent about 2.5 hours on the colors.

that's why you shouldn't talk to strangers xD

Wonderfully gritty! Still, i think it's a little rough around the edges.

Angry-Hatter responds:

Yeah, I hear you. As mentioned, I was on a deadline and I was pushing it pretty close, so the colors in particular are pretty sloppy.

Creepy dude. Really that and a good smattering of porn too. Nice on the ESRB rating. I would not want a little kid to see this, not from here. Good work there and nice on the art. Props.

Angry-Hatter responds:

Hey, thanks.

Speaking of the rating, Newground's rating system is a little bit off. When I submitted, I set the dials on adult themes and violence to "lots", and the nudity only to "some" (after all, the only nudity is one breast and some bush). Apparently, that's only enough to earn an M rating. I went back and made it "lots" on the nudity scale so that it'd become an A rating. I'll be the first one to admit, this is a pretty messed up drawing.
