UPDATE 6/27/24 - I made one final update (which also applies to all of the other TF models) - I modeled some new hands! Nothing really wrong with the ones I already made, I just felt they could have used a bit more *pop*.
UPDATE 6/15/24 - I figured out a few new tricks with SketchUp, and I was able to update the parts (especially the helmet shape). I've also gotten some new filament colors, including black, gray, and silk silver filament. OH MAN, I love the silver. It actually looks like die-cast metal.
Granted, this particular print has the older head design (I updated that shortly after printing it), but you can see how much of a difference the silver filament is compared to the paint. When I make the next one (which may be soon, considering I did sell this one at A2F), I'll take some pics of it and put 'em here.
^The only spots of paint on it are the red, blue, and yellow areas on the midsection.
For funzies, I also made this "reformatting" model. This would be fun to print and bring to life.

Initial Prototype
Painted
"Safety" Megatron, with frowning, yelling, and laughing faces
I came across a R.E.D. Megatron while I was out shopping, and I was extremely close to buying it...but then I convinced myself to have a little fun with my 3D printer instead. Modeled it completely in SketchUp! While it isn't articulated (let alone transforms), I was mostly going for the design anyway. I dunno, maybe at some point I'll make a poseable version.
My initial prototype was just to see how it'd print more than anything, and to get an idea for proportions and whatnot. After a bit of tinkering, I made the silver version (and even had a decal handy to slap on there). I made a third one to try out alternate parts for different faces/arm gestures; and for variety's sake, I painted it up to look like the "Safety Megatron", an unreleased reissue of the G1 toy that no amount of blue and orange could get it approved.
I have been taking these to cons with me to see how people react to them. I'm considering putting them up on Storenvy as "model kits".
