Valley of Dreams

I am damned proud of this...
Recently I dreamed a dream about a gigantic fertile crater. The crater was in the middle of the Sahara desert for some reason, but it was full of trees and a lake in the middle. Around the sides of the crater were lots of houses- a little suburban community that I was apparently part of. The most interesting thing in my dream (that I have not attempted to portray in the picture) was that around the sides of the crater were the four seasons. You could walk through winter to spring, and then through summer, and through fall, eventually ending up in winter again if you walked around the entire thing.
This is the first time I've tried using mechanical pencil in a drawing. I think it worked very well.

EDIT: Wow frontpage! Thank you!

This is amazing! It seriously looks like an old engraving! Do you even know what those are? There were made in the Middle Ages by people like Albert Duchter or however you say his name. This is just fantastic because it reminded me of classic art. Everything is so freaking realistic!

It's great to know that this was based on a dream. Sounds like a pretty realistic one. I just love the design of all the little trees. It must have taken forever to make them! It's really cool to see slanted houses like that too. 1600's a pretty nonstandard name.

good..

except for that shadow there from the clothes line...just wondering... what would it look like in color?

It's in the Details

Fantastic work. Very good detail work.
*another someone else did notice the clothesline's shadow. :D But it's great that you're aware of it.
You have a great eye for details.
I'm admit, I squinted when I looked at the sun. Smart hey?

Nice!

Nice work! Especially considering what tools you used... anyone can make a "masterpiece" with photoshop now, and what you made shows real talent.

One *tiny* thing that bugs me is the "noon shadow" cast by the clothesline... doubt anyone else noticed...

Other than that it's perfect!

1600 responds:

I was actually wondering if anybody was going to notice that misplaced shadow...

Beautiful.

Yes, you should be proud of this. This is amazing. I wish I could have that dream, it sounds really nice. The pencil didn't work out bad at all, haha. Have you ever done any pieces with colored pencil? I think it would be very good. I'm not artist really, though, so it's a guess =P

But really, the piece is fantastic. Awesome job =)
