Superb. Challenging, engaging, entertaining and stands the test of time for years to come. This still raises the bar for flash entertainment.
I always love extremely hard games, and this game is no exception. Never got around reviewing until now.
Graphics and style spot on despite being a flash game. With your techniques of creating an illusion of 3D space, the game stands out from the rest of the flash games in here. It's also very stylistic with minimal color choices. It gives a futuristic feel. I also love the weapon design. A revolver with a blade as a gun stock is interesting.
The only main complaint I have for this game is the cumbersome UI for weapon switching. You lose time selecting a weapon by sacrificing your aim. This one is unnecessary and cheap for difficulty ramping. Yes this game is made in 2003, so the techniques should be better by now, but this is still a major drawback from what would be the greatest game.
Overall, this game is timeless, with the exception of the weapon switch system.
Sometimes i didn't play it before!
Right, I should probably review this game. It's been one of my favourites since it I joined NG.
First off, check out the first reviews this game got. Then check out the most recent. It goes from people saying the game is great to people saying it's not.
Personally, I put that down to games becoming easier, and people becoming more impatient. Back then, people acknowledged this game was brutally hard, but all the same, rewarding. I guess times change and this game might not be fitting for today's scene but back then, it was quite possibly the best game on NG.
Even now, the graphics are top quality and for me the music has never got old.
I never completed all the stages but I've made a commitment to do that now.
Plot wise, I guess there really isn't one but I see that there's a series using the characters found in this game.
Anyway, I just wanted to finally write a review, for my own sake cause I have plenty of memories playing this game.
I had... Well have, some major gripes with this game though. S for select weapon and having to click to choose one? Come on man, that wastes valuble seconds! Why not use the 1 through to 0 keys? That would save me some time!
I guess it all adds to the experience but that really pissed me off. And it still does! Haha.
For this game to come out back then, I think it's a testament to the Author's skill and creativity.
Here's another game with good intention and concept but it's just a little off it's mark. I agree with the others with regards to the time allowed to score. Why doesn't the time start once you hit your first target, instead of the second you retreive the gun? Besides the slow-mo reloading ammo feature, press the space bar and reload all ready. After working with the timing on a few sections of this game it should do real well. Then it should be a lot more enjoyable to play.
