UPDATE 21/6/05
Yea I updated the engine and added some minor things to make the game run smoother. I also changed the controls a tad so that people can play it offline if they know how to scour their temp files ;)

This is level one of my latest game, Metal Slug Rampage! If u wanna see some changes in level two then just say so in your review. All ideas WILL be taken into account. If you wanna see a character in there from a game u like tell me what game and character or better still email me the sprites.

A full list of controls is IN THE GAME but here's a brief run down:

Left/Right arrow keys:Move left/right
Up/Down arrow keys:adjust machinegun position
Control:Shoot Machinegun
Shift:Jump
Space:Fire the main cannon

Ok ppl. I was inspired by all the sprite orientated games on Newgrounds to make one myself. One of the only sprite games I have is Metal Slug. So i made this. As for right clicking to fight the boss, thats just the way i programmed the game, u can right click to skips scenes in almost every game there is.

**UPDATE**

Wow! I had no idea this would do so well! Thanx 2 all those who supported me and wrote good reviews. I'll definetely be making level 2 now.

UPDATE 2 **22/6/03 (or for u yanks 6/22/03)**

Fuck me with a 10 foot pole (no dont actually). Over 1 million views and over 500 reviews!! I NEVER thought it would do so well. Well, u 1 million ppl will b pleased to know lvl 2 is only a matter of weeks away!

-Good-
A very splendid replica you have got here! The graphics transcend into this quite nicely, they fit smoothly and the game plays quite well. The sound effects were definitively mastered and I assumed they would all sound like one big loop but it sounded just as I had when I played Metal Slug. The opening cut scene was nicely done for the time and gave the game a really nice plot to fall back on, and actually held up suspense. It would have actually been nice to see a sequel or two out of the game making a nice little Metal Slug series with excellent cut scenes and a very nice authentic story line. Keep up the nice work here, the enemy AI is actually well done to and the difficulty is at a perfect pace.

-Improve-
The game gets a really slow feeling after just minutes of game play and somewhat disappointing me by the end. Also while the game has a real nice story line, there's hardly anything to the game and once you have beaten it you don't really feel like giving it another shot. I think some unlock-able characters, music tracks or even some nice vehicles being included in the game would have given a real nice replay appeal.

-Overall-
A great Metal Slug replica and I guess that's what you aimed at, but you could have went so much further with a possibly sequel and lots of more options or unlock-able items, characters, vehicles and such would have given people a much bigger pressure to replay the game or at least come back to it from time to time. Really nice job here though!

Makes me wish I had played this

This is a good game because the graphics are great and very authentic to the original game. Granted, I only have other good graphics to go onto. Anyway, the worst part about this was learning to control with the shooter. It would have been cooler if there had been little explosions every time it shot something. Blue lasers are just awesome! Hey, that reminds me of that Cheat Commandos series from Homestar Runner.

It's funny how your character is so psychotic with wanting to kill innocents. The explosions are nicely detailed too. I especially love the different arrangements of weapons that live up well to other simulations of the game. It's great more levels are being made after all this time. The backgrounds and sounds are authentic too.
