Hi there! My name is Allen Lisowe, otherwise known as OmegaLevelGaming and I would like to introduce you to my Side Project. So, I feel like I should note a few things:

1) I am a one person team and still in high school. This means while I will be putting in as much time as I can into this game, progress will be slow.

2) This isn't so much a game as it is a test of different game mechanics. I'd love to get your input to see what changes I should make to certain elements of the game.

3) I want to get better at creating games, so any critiques would be much appreciated.

Controls:
- W - jump (including wall jumps)
- A & S - Side to side movement
- Number keys - choose weapon
- Fist (1) - left click to hit
- Gun (2) - left click to shoot (watch ammo)
- Shield (3) - follows mouse can block turret shots
- Sword (4) - nothing at the moment
- Grappling hook (5) - left click to shoot and be pulled

Recent Fixes & Changes:
-Added simple lives system
-moved gui for lives, bullets, and health to bottom right
-fixed invincible enemy
-Added controls desc. in game
-Fixed Fist so it attacks
-Redid lava damage

To do:
-Find some royalty-free music that can be added for now

In the second level, the enemy is invincible... as potential though!

OmegaLevelGaming responds:

I think I have a fix (I'm pretty sure you're talking about the 1hp invisibility bug) and will be updating it shortly.

OKay. THere are following flaws:
1) Health can go to negative without consequences
2) Going to lava cause restart level withouyt changing health
3) Not all weapon works
4) Fist does not do any damage
5) No description of game control (how to change weapon)
6) Jumoing rope caused characther stucking in oplace, however repeating using hjelped it move

My advice:
Create simple game trying to avoid bugs.

OmegaLevelGaming responds:

Thanks a bunch! I know the sword hasn't any controls, that is because I lost the original illustrator file for the sword (but after taking some time to search through my computer, I found it), so that will soon be available to use. The fist should have done some damage, but I will check again. I am going to set the level to reset if you lose all your health, and I think for now I will add a lives system so there is some system to deter dying. Also, for now, I am going to keep the grappling hook like that (as it is the least buggy version I've found. One version allowed you to dig through blocks). I will be adding the controls to the description, as well as a sort of tutorial.

Again, thanks for the feedback, I will fix these problems.

For a first game this is some pretty neat stuff. However there's one elephant in the room that needs addressing.

There's no tutorial or list of controls that I can see either in the game or the description. I eventually figured out the controls but even so it's a MASSIVE gap in the game design

(For those wondering about the controls: WASD to move (W to wall jump as well) and number keys (1-5) to select weapons. Mouse to aim and click to fire weapon)

Also, one time while playing level 2, I was killing the enemy but when he reached 1HP he suddenly became invincible to hits, and when I jumped over him (god knows why) my character got embedded in the ceiling :/)

Jumping physics could use improvement too. All that aside, I wish you luck!

OmegaLevelGaming responds:

Thanks, I will be putting the controls in the description and will make a place where you can find the controls in game (I had meant to put them at the end of the description, but forgot). I am going to look into the enemy bug, I believe I know the problem. Thanks, I appreciate the input.

Pretty good little game. Wish it had more than one sound effect though. Also how do I use the sword and other weapons?

OmegaLevelGaming responds:

Yeah, sorry. I forgot to put the controls into the description, so I will do that now.

To start it off, it's not a bad game. Really, it's not. It has potential but as it is to be expected from someone without much skill in this field, it has it's issues. I like the wall jumping mechanic, it's quite useful. The game however would definetly benefit from a tutorial since finding out how things work takes some trial and error. If you put some more work into it, polished it, hopefully improved the visuals, it could become a pretty good game. Right now, however, it is a bit forgetable considering it's rather crude visuals, basic mechanics. However, for a first 'test game', you did pretty good.

OmegaLevelGaming responds:

Alright, thanks. I am going to try to fix a few of the bugs and update it. I will add a tutorial for the different weapons. I've been thinking about bettering the main character and first enemy's visuals. Right now I'm going to focus more mechanics side than aesthetics and graphics.
