Hoonters is a free turn-based RPG developed in Unity. A mixture of Monster Hunter, Classic JRPGs and loads of hentai. You take on the role of a Beast Hunter, exploring lands in search of monsters whose fluids contain special characteristics, making them valuable resources for creating medicine, commodities and several other things. Not all monsters appreciate being exploited like that, in fact, if you lose to them, they're likely to make you taste your own medicine! ...Quite literally, in this case.

This is a VERY EARLY alpha for the game. It is honestly just a little above a prototype. If you're interested in the project, however, do leave feedback! Any bugs or glitches you find and tell me, I'll get to fixing ASAP.

Keep in mind, Unity's WEBGL export option is still far from being perfect. I am constantly doing my best to try and optimize the build for HTML5, but there's only so much I can do. If you want a stable version, you can get an EXE over at our other mirrors on Patreon.

Q: The Exit buttons in the Main Menu and on the Town don't work. Why?
A: Those are for the .EXE version. I'm currently working on something so that the game will recognize when it's on WEBGL or EXE and then activate/deactivate some of those options accordingly. It's still very buggy though, so I figured it'd be better to just leave it disabled, to be safe.

Q: The game won't load for me, I only get a gray screen! Why?
A: Oh boy. The Unity WEBGL application is either loading, or it was unable to pre-allocate enough memory to start up the game. Try closing any other tabs you have open and then hard refreshing this game. If all else fails and you want to play the game, the best suggestion I have is going after the .EXE through our patreon. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Q: My game stopped working, what do I do?
A: That...Well, that could be due to a bunch of reasons, really. First off, sorry for the inconvenience! Second, tell me where it stopped working, what you were doing and, if there are any, what messages the WEBGL application gave you when it stopped working and I'll look into it ASAP.

Q: The Guild Leader won't let me go on a hunt?
A: You're definitely forgetting to pick something. Just be sure to go through all of the steps in the Expedition Menu, from the first to the very last. Area Selection -> Monster Selection -> Backpack Selection -> Equipment Selection
Be sure to click on every single one of the buttons, just to make sure!

UPDATE 0.5C - Fixed an error that occurred with the Parry Dagger's Skill.

I don't know where to begin, perhaps with saying: I love games like CoC and TiTs where you can do anything (quite literally...) where you can get companions, go exploring, rape your opponent if you win, ect.

And hopefully this is where you plan to take the games, I've done some sniffing around and I like where this is heading, you should try and find others who'll join in for free, though using unity instead of flash has already cut off a lot of newground's fans (not to mention I had to get a direct link because it wouldn't load...)

The current state of the game can hardly be called a game, but that these are early days, and it's potential is great. If you can find the right colleagues and play your cards right.

I don't know what you plan to do with the combat, but right now it's pretty boring. You don't level, you don't have any special abilities aside from your weapons second attack, and neither do the enemies, so there's no incentive to kill the same enemy multiple times, except for gold which you don't need much of as soon as you buy your weapon of choice.

Art: The art isn't bad, it's a hit OR a miss, some of it is better than others, but I hope that once the base of the game is done you can refine it.

I think the 3 Star rating for this game is suited so far, and even that is being generous because of the potential, the current amount of game play really lets you know it's in Alpha.

I'm not going to make to many suggestions at this stage of development , since I know you're already as busy as can be, and probably have a mountain of suggestions already, but you can expect plenty from me once the game is more stable. I'll be following this project and hope it turns out good.

Unfortunately I can't/won't become a patron because I'm as broke as can be, not to mention all my future earnings have already been promised to my lord and savior GabeN for this years robbery, but I hope you can get more support so you can hire people & concentrate on it more.

(I'm probably repeating myself alot...) But I really hope this succeeds, if you can successfully combine elements from CoC and TiTs, but with actual animation & art, we'll have a masterpiece on our hands.

also, damn I don't know what you plan to do with the pets, but if you do the pet system right it could be awesome, especially if some pets are fuckable (just like the goo in TiTs that serves as both weapon/armor as well as a playmate)

Hope the companion system will be good as well, individuality is key, in bodytype(races, size, ect) as well as personality (we need flatchests & boobs big enough to have their own axis)

But don't think I don't understand it's in alpha, with barley any content, I know this is only the schematics of the future, and a fine future it'll be.

A side note, if you haven't played Trials In Tainted Space (TiTs) definitely give it a go, it's made by the same guy who did CoC(and a lot better IMO).

So just to make it clear, while I might have sounded like a dick, I like this concept a lot, hope you can achieve it.

Again sorry if this review/comment is kind of shitty/alloverdaplace just wanted to let you know... I will always be watching you, until the games completion, of course.

I'll be watching this game's progress closely, really hope more patrons can get in.

Hope this turns out good, good luck man

Nicoffee responds:

Holy crap, this is a big review. Okay, I'm gonna try to answer point by point here, if you don't mind.

The reason I picked Unity over flash is, first and foremost familiarity, I've worked plenty with Unity in the past so it's a tool I feel much more comfortable in. While I have some basic knowledge of how to program in Flash, I wouldn't want to damage Hoonter's final quality over that.

I'll admit the combat is pretty bare bones right now, my concept for it was to make it so that it was not a matter of picking a favorite weapon and armor set and sticking with it forever, rather, my final plan is to make a wide variety of both armors, weapons AND enemies, so that you have to pick your equipment ideally for each of these enemies, while still allowing some wiggle room for preference here and there. Think the Monster Hunter series. Future weapons and armors will have more special abilities however, so we'll see how it turns out by then!

Yeah, I'm gonna be posting a new update soon and I feel like the art that update will add gives off a better idea of what the ideal art for Hoonters should be like, I'll eventually go back and rework all of that art anyways, since I'll be animating it, eventually.

Hey, I'm always open to suggestions! Regardless of the stage of development, I like engaging with people and discussing ideas, even if I don't end up using the suggestion itself, sometimes it can give me ideas for something else.

No worries about the patron stuff man, I understand completely. I'm also hoping I'll be able to buy Fallout 4 or Stellaris on this next sale, myself.

Pets will be fuckable, yeah. The current plan for it is that you can capture monsters to turn them into pets, unlocking new scenes with them (With you, or your other pets) and also take them into battle with you so they'll fight alongside you in a system similar to the one used in the Paper Mario RPG series, if you're familiar with that.

Oh yeah, don't worry about that, I plan to get started on working on rivals and other NPCs soon, and they're plenty varied in looks and style.

I have played TiTs, yeah. Haven't played the most recent builds though, I think I could only get to the third or fourth planet last time I played it.

You did not sound like a dick at all, I get where your critique is coming from, and I appreciate you taking the time to talk it out to me. Alpha 0.6 should be coming out by Saturday, it doesn't add that much, but if you have any other comments by then, feel free to send them to me, by message or by another review.

Thank you for the review, I hope I can meet the expectations you have for this game.

this game remind me of Corruption of Champions

Nicoffee responds:

It was one of the inspirations for it, yeah. I think it still has a fair few differences from it though.

Games pretty good so far but very short.
Recommendation: Make the combat text sit a few seconds longer so we have time to read it. Maybe add more details to the scenes or make them interactive later on.

Other than pretty good to play and I look forward to future versions I see alot of potential in this idea and I can't wait to see what it turns out like update to update.
Any news on when you'll be updating next?

Nicoffee responds:

Hi! Thank you so much for the feedback, I'm glad to hear you liked it. I actually just released a new version out on our Patreon and it should be made public around the 11th of June or so. The idea is for the scenes to eventually be animated, the following update (After the one coming on the 11th) will have our first fully animated scene.

I'll see about increasing the time of the combat text, though it might not prove itself as necessary, since the next update will have little boxes warning what status effects are currently affecting both the player and the enemy. We'll see though.

Keep it up! Waiting for the full game tho.

Nicoffee responds:

Thank you! It'll be a while until the full game though, honestly. I work on this as a personal side project at the moment :< But I'll be keeping new versions here in Newgrounds updated until the final one is released!
