Here is a relaunch of Lasernoid! A game I attempted to make for Newgrounds long ago, but didn't do the best due to using a program I was unfamiliar with..

However, I have just received my copy of Game Maker Studio, an engine I have been using since I was 6, and Lasernoid has reawaken!

Now with more enemies, upgrades and epic challenges, Lasernoid brings the retro days of old to a new and modern universe of the digital age.

Can you conquer the Noid?

NOTE: This is my first HTML Game, please let me know of any issues, glitches, crashes or any other bugs.

Credits to Deshiel for Special BGM track!
Special thanks to Kyle Blake, brother, for design of Spectro Boss.

A fun and easy game. You should include a mute button.

Thank you for the review, I will work on a new update for that feature. I was thinking the same thing. :)

I had a fun time playing the game, but I got bored quickly. The problem was that I was getting more health more often than I was getting hit. But that is the only problem I had with the game, it was tough to avoid the enemies, and I laughed when the music came on when the newgrounds tank came on screen. I think it just needs to be a bit more challenging.

I noticed, I think my chances -- 1 of 4% Probability was too high... So I will heighten that for less drops. I'm also updating the enemies so that they fire more and intelligently, besides aimlessly firing one laser at you. :)

Awh man! This game looks awesome! I get to fly around in a saucer firing lasers! Maybe I'll get to explore too, see a few planets, go on an adventure out in the milky way galaxy, but guess what.... none of that happens here!

Lasernoid: Reborn is essentially another undeveloped action shooter where you fight endless waves of enemies in space until you are dead. Sure, it's a great area for developers first-time projects, but this genre is really getting old fast on newgrounds. After flying around in my green CD'ish looking ship for 30 seconds, I wanted to explore the reaches of outer space and see what's out there. Unfortunately, we're just stuck with one area.... But I played the game anyway.

What this game does right is it's graphics & sound effects. It was that opening picture that led me to click on it and come and review this game because it displayed a sense of neat & tidiness. Truth be told, I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but I knew it looked cool! Once I started playing however, my hopes began to fall. Not because of personal preference, but as a reviewer. Let's go over some of these issues...

- For this type of game, there is a lack of enemy variety. I counted 5 enemies total during my playthrough. More varieties need to be added to keep a player's interest.
- On the menu, it says "NEW GAME" when it should be saying "PLAY GAME" because there is no game to resume.
- The game is endless, but the difficulty never increases. After 10 minutes of playing, my health points was 300, and my score was 10,000, and I suck at these type of games! So there is some serious balancing issue needed here, maybe reduce the health drop frequency or increase enemy damage.

When it comes down to it, Lasernoid: Reborn will be forgotten, but it's not necessarily a bad game. It just falls short of it's true potential, and in it's current state, players are going to be bored out of their minds. The final verdict is a 5 out of 10 -- It is an average game. It sucks the players in with it's beautiful layout & outer space theme, and then bores them to death with it's endless waves of enemies that provide no challenge or feeling of survival. This might as well be a demo because that's what it feels like. These are my honest opinions of the game. Some will disagree, but this is where I feel it stands.

Final Verdict: 5 out of 10
NG Rating: 2.5 Stars

I love this review! I am a good game designer for mystery games, but shooter games are out of my norm, but I had to try it. All the things you mentioned are some I am aware of. The whole time I was thinking about a base and having to defend, gather resource and build for. I really want to do your idea of exploring! That's sounds awesome and now that someone has mentioned the idea, I will start on an update for that! I've done something like that before, I don't know why this time I didn't.

I will be taking all your suggestions and using them to improve my game. This is why I love Newgrounds so much, constructive, supportive and blunt reviews that really help a lot! It's what me as a game designer look for! I will start on the update now. :)
