Navigate your way through a dangerous shifting maze while in total darkness.

A game I created for Newgrounds' 2015 third Construct 2 Jam based on the theme of "Deception":

Version 1.1 Update (27/06/15)
- Fixed the mouse control bug which also had connection with the flashlight bug.
- Fixed bugs in animated text buttons.
- Some bugs in touchscreen support in the text buttons.
- Fixed getting stuck in the walls bug.
- Added a mute button.
- Other efficiency changes in the game project itself.

NOTE: Game uses WebGL
NOTE: Game is mouse/touchpad/keyboard and touch supported.

Instructions also in game in the "Instructions" layout.

General Instructions:
Navigate your way to find an exit through this dangerous shifting maze while in total darkness armed only with a flashlight.

Keyboard Controls:
Use the arrow keys to move.

Mouse/Touchpad Controls:
Use the mouse/touchpad to mouselook.

Touch Controls:
Use the "Enable Touch Controls" button then use the arrows on the screen to move.

If you're trying to make this game a little bit scary, the heartbeat isn't helping at all. The heartbeat is too fast and hearing the heavy breathing makes my lungs feel like I need an oxygen tank or something. Good graphics, good concept, but I finished it on 115.5112899998 or 1 minute and 55 seconds. the shiftings only took place when I was about near the middle. I was expecting a maze which changes walls every time you don't flash your light upon it but that would be too hard. Seriously, that heavy breathing is making me feel like there is no oxygen in my room. AT least I succeeded in writing this comment while hearing those sound effects

Thanks for your honest review,

Will take your recommendation on what the sounds effects does not achieve in my future games or even build upon this said game or concept in the future.

This is a good idea for a game, and it is executed very well. The lighting effects look good as well.
The hitboxes for the blocks seem to be bigger than the sprite size, and I find myself getting stuck on the walls more times than I should.
It's also kind of upsetting that there is no music. Done right, music can multiply the tension and atmosphere of a game. Sound effects usually aren't enough to make a good atmosphere.
Keep up the good work!

First off thank you for your feedback,

I think I just fixed the getting stuck on the walls bug, as for the music I will try to take your recommendation of music multiplying the tension and atmosphere of a game. In my future games or even build upon this said game or concept in the future.

Where is the mute button ? The heartbeat sound is annoying from the first second on. And the flashlight and the cursor have a 90° phase shift, unnecessary and confusing. The flashlight should always point to the cursor.

Firstly thanks for your feedback,

In the last release I have added a mute button however I think the sounds adds to the overall atmosphere of the game anyway most importantly I have also fixed the control bug.

It's very difficult to control the character and the light doesn't do much to help since we can't control it too well.

Clinton-Mastay responds:

Thanks very much for your feedback,

I also fixed the control bug in the last update.
