THIS GAME WAS DEVELOPED FOR THE LUDUM DARE 31, IN 3 DAYS!
For the Homeland is a videogame in which you take control of a dictatorship of both left and right wings.
Your main mission is to resist the rage of the social classes and to improve your army to conquer all the neighbouring countries.
In order to accomplish this mission, you'll have to, among other things, decide upon the lives of your prisoner citizens, make deals with other countries, and elaborate complex strategies...
Your country is waiting for you!

Love the idea of the game. Fun stuff. I'm cool with the retro look as well. What I'm taking stars off for is the lack of polish. I feel like the consequences of the actions you take should be clearer, as they relate to the different classes of people. However, I do think the images of ppl rioting in the background according to class/color was a nice touch. Keep it up, hope to see a more polished version of this in the future!
Also, would have loved to see more variance and diversity in the crimes committed. I'm sensing this would be a great spot to add some humor and light, to an otherwise heavy-mooded game (though in and of itself, that isn't a bad thing). Some dark humor would give this game an excellent extra level.
I'm sorry but this is just the most violent 8-bit game ever made.
It still needs some polish. I found myself confused on what to do a lot and I did encounter the bug that doesn't let you click anything after you pick up the phone at the same time you order someone killed. Other than that it's fantastic and I hope you come out with a more complete version soon.
Kinda fun. xD I didn't really pay attention to who was from what class because I didn't really know how to tell who came in what they were.
I pretty much just killed all rapists and threw all the muderers in jail except for a few who murdered their close family or spouse or something. The rest was either jail or forgive really.
Got overthrown by a working class revolution though in the end.
Was fun but could be improved. Not bad for being made in the time allowed.
I like it, but at the moment it is very difficult. There needs to be more explanation of the consequences of the actions. Sometimes I punish a working class person and get more fewer workers rioting but more rich people rioting. Sometimes its vice versa. It seems like there isn't a way to know what will happen. If I take a deal that is offered me that affects a mood I assume the effect will be negative, but I don't know if any will be positive. The game just tells me it will effect the mood, but which way or if it effects the other social classes moods.
As for the conquering, well it's impossible to know in advance whether you will be successful or not. And even when you are successful you lose all the forces you committed. Something that shows a percent chance of success before you attack, based on how many troops and what types you will send would be good.
Lastly, I had absolutely no idea what the papers were. I thought they went up as people kept rioting, and tried to appease people and conquer places/make deals to get more meat, but nope, turns out they were cases I had to take. It would be nice if that were explained somewhere.
So, currently I give the game 2 stars out of 5. I really like it, but there are a few bugs I've noticed other reviewers already mention, and without more explanation and detail about what your actions will result in the game feels impossible and frustrating.
