Standoff is a highscore-based web browser game that pits the player against an endless number of mobsters in surprisingly calm and collected gun fights. Outwit the enemy to survive!

Standoff was the result of a week-long game jam that we did way back in September 2013, when we first got together to make games. We delayed releasing it because we were not satisfied with the gameplay. We decided to put it up now as a way to get advice from the gaming community.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Great concept but I was able to get 11th all time score just by spamming the down arrow as the round started and shooting the enemy before their bullets even got to me... Only died because I missed the button on the "boss" and got killed instantly by a burst. Maybe you should make it so that some of the enemies don't pop out right at the start but after a second or two. That would instantly ruin my method :)

Very nice game, good graphics and music. The gameplay is unique and addicting.

The bosses are too repetitive, though, I think they should vary more in each level. And a way to recover lives would be cool!

A really nice game, although rather difficult after the second boss. Highscore also was a good idea, but i really wonder if you could delete it from time to time since those 666 million points seam too high to achive and we donĀ“t need cheaters around here.

Brilliant game. The atmosphere is really immersing, due both to the very well done animation and the jazzy soundtrack. The gameplay is also extremeley addicting, I'd just add that you perhaps could've gone for a higher difficulty, seeing as at a cetain point, reaching a higher score becomes a test of endurance. There is but a single change in pattern of the bosses, which makes them in fact easier than the minions, once you get the trick to beat them. The minions themselves also have no increase in difficulty at a certain point, I believe. Other than that, it looks like a great game to me.

Replying to the review made by user Reaplay, there is in fact a great advantage to shooting straight forward. In fact, shooting pressing down is useless except for the boss fights. The reason to this is that shooting forward is much faster. Often have I defeated the enemy by shooting him after he had attacked from the ground and gone out of bullets, because it takes such a long time to get to cover. There's also an opening both when you press down to attack straight from the ground and when you get back to cover after it, which, along with the long period it takes to get to the "ground stance", can be lethal.
