There was a few glitches, like how clicking the screen in a place other than "continue" would cause the week to be repeated with resources draining again, and sometimes the choices would register the opposite as I chose . The artwork was impressive, a nice simplistic colour pattern with high-detail backgrounds. The gameplay has potential, but was too......linear. The weeks were always the same and always in the same order, and (except for the extra food, once) always bad or exchanges between resources. I felt like more could have been added and that it would benefit to have events randomized, except for key points near the end and beginning. I think the game would also benefit from a upgrade system, and maybe a few mini-games tossed in if you wanted to. If you want to keep to minimalist thing going that is okay too, but there does still need to be more here than is I think

I do like this style of artwork and do think the gameplay style is a good one, just could have used some more content and bug fixing. I hope you continue to post to Newgrounds and wish you much luck in your future engenders.

BUG FIXED – the Bug one which accidentally deducted more resources should now be fixed. Forgot to require the function which deducted points to run only when the Yes or No buttons were visible. As it was, even when the buttons disappeared the functionality did not. ;P My apologies! Thanks for commenting and helping me fix the bug.

I agree that I need to add more randomized events to make this more re-playable and have more complicated mechanics like the upgrade system you mentioned. I am new to Construct 2 and programming so I can hopefully learn and build from these simple mechanics into something more interesting in the future. Thanks again for taking the time to give helpful comments!

lived 32 weeks then wouldnt let me continue but had no ending either just let me assign them but couldnt hit next so did i win is it glitched is there a win screen or what?

KoberGirl responds:

Yeah...there is a win screen...should have only needed to survive 30 weeks....Perhaps the other bug I just fixed will solve the problem you had...but I will keep an eye out for it. Sorry! I am new to Construct 2 and programming in general. I appreciate your feedback.

It's a good game right now, but it does need a bit of work. I noticed a weird glitch.
When given a choice, I click one button, but when I click 'continue' I end up with the opposite result.
For instance, I gave the woman food, but when I clicked continue, she ran away crying because I apparently turned her away.

And, this is just a personal annoyance, but nothing good ever happens...
First it's rats, then there's some uncontrollable thing that takes all of my full ammo stash, then the pipes all explode somehow...

KoberGirl responds:

I fixed one major bug which was accidentally deducting extra points. For that Question, there is a 20% chance even if you choose to feed the Woman and child she will pull a gun on you and demand more. Perhaps you got the random bad result.

Sorry the theme bummed you out. I was sort of commenting on the futility of living isolated. Thanks for your comments!

I think the gameplay could be improved by making the events truly random. I was able to plan ahead on the second playthrough and win. Other than that, a decent game that has potential but could use some more work.

KoberGirl responds:

Agreed BlackFrye. This game jam was a great learning experience for me. I hope to be able to create more complex game mechanics in the future, such as randomized events, more of an economy and upgrade potential. Thanks for your suggestions!
