"why?"
date: December 4, 2004
As i already said in my review for starry night i write reviews based on the work of the artist and not the artist itself. I thought starry night was very poorly made on many aspects, but i simply loved 0_count. I personally think this is your best flash. The burning question is: Why did you remove it?
I didnt just dislike starry night because it had simple symbolism. I also disliked the movie because i think the theme is overdone and a bit shallowminded and it simply was too short. There was too little substance to it. 0_count on the other hand was a great piece.
I loved the way you experimented with real handdrawn pictures combined with digital media. And what was very strong of this flash was that u let the handdrawn pieces dominate the digital media ones, instead of getting lost into endless special effects. It really had a great sci fi/retro atmosphere.
Another reason why i do like your work is because you are a very talented drawing artist. I saw a picture a while ago of the face of a woman u drew with pencil and that really got me interested in your work.
The way i see it, is that you (like me) dont really know your own style yet. There is no central theme/coherent thought or statement that keeps your work together. Maybe this is your own choice, but this way it will be very hard for you as an artist to fully develop your potential and grow. One piece is very good and well thought out, while the other is totally different and not so good.
Still i (and i am sure many with me) would like to know the answer to: why did you remove this?

Author's Response:
I actually had all my solo movies pending for removal, but Wade only decided to pend removal for this one movie. I'm guessing he has a reason to keep the others on the site and not this one? If you want to know, ask him.
As for Starry Night... yes... short... not much time put into it. Yeah, sums it up for a weekend's work. Like I said, I only put it on this site because so many people asked to see it. No movie can appeal to every single person, so I'm happy my little movie was received so well.
If you want to see 0_Count and its sequels and mythology I'm probably going to start something on my site with it.
