Cool game, but TYPO! It says testosteron instead of testosterone.

Disclaimer: I'm going to review this seriously. I know full well that this was not meant to be a seriously-taken game, but that's how I roll.

Ok. Let's break it down.

Gameplay-wise, it was terrible. I'm not going to sugar-coat it with a storyline excuse, the gameplay was dull, colourless and repetitive. You did shake it up with the lasers, but they were easy to avoid. Overall, if this was a serious game and was any longer, I would give up on it after the 2nd level.

On that cheerful note...

Story-wise, it was well suited for the project scale. It was simple, but just so slightly off the point. I think some people will be confused at what the message is, simply considering the cisbot to be a blind twit. However, once the word "lesbian" came up, I'm confident at least a few people will get the message eventually.

So after a short examination of your game, I'd think, considering the tiny scale of the project, you did pretty well. I feel that you could have been a bit less lazy in the gameplay and made something change in the 2nd and 3rd stages, and I know that you're capable of doing so.

Good game, if you don't mind a small, simple game.

My top score (and my only one) in endless mode was 12,605. I thought it was really interesting how I was able to be so good at this without really liking the game. It was basically just the same thing over and over. I'm not complaining, I'm damn good at it! I now have all the medals except the secret ones. I doubt I'll go back for them.

I just thought it was interesting how you had such a good title. I'm pretty sure I'm a boy. The computer didn't seem to believe me either way. While not a classic, definitley worth looking into for the easy medals. Yeah, I'm that kind of guy.

I don't agree with the message, but I love how nicely you have delivered it. The method of deliverance has a "Jonathan Blow" feel to it, in a sense that it's not straight forward, but still not too confusing or pointless, it's just right enough to push the player into the process of interpreting this movements. The game-play is not bad either, but it gets really boring after a while, especially once you get that the levels are repeating with nothing changing. An idea that I have is that since you are shooting letters, maybe you can write something with the letters you have shoot down, and by writing the correct word win something...

I like that this is trying to put cisgendered people into the role of transgendered people, and to give some people some insight into what it's like to be consistently misrepresented and judged. On the other hand... you missed two things. One is that the pressure for the body to conform to the mind doesn't suit everyone. While some people are obviously better off having sex correction surgery, others only suffer due to the expectation from heteronormative society to look like this or that, and from other trans people to be a 'typical trans person' otherwise you're not 'real'. It can invalidate a person as much as pronoun misuse etc.

My other problem is that this is very gender-binary. A 'No' option at the start would be pretty good... I know some trans people like to think that genderqueer individuals are attention seeking or fake though. It's funny to see trans people say the same stuff about genderqueer people as cis people do about trans people. But I assume it's just an oversight in your case.

VOEC responds:

This is only really meant to be a representation of what transsexual (as in people who seek hrt etc.) people go to in contrast to trans* in general.
But I think if you not focus too much on the ending screen and the game over screen it still works as something that is relevant to all trans* individuals.

But the focus of the game comes from the original idea as stated in the description, which was written by a transsexual person.
Also there is a gender nonbinary option which you can unlock by getting a certain score. It actually even says "No" as the option. So I wouldn't call it an oversight, just what the original idea was focused on.
