Hi,

I hope you are having a lovely day,

My name is Dusty Ryan, I am the game director at Podunk Studioz LLC and I am emailing you today because my team and I need your help.

Recently we have partnered up with a young author by the name of Chris Bryant to adapt his books into games. The reason Mr. Bryant wanted to see his books turned into games was so he could create a revenue stream to help him and support his mother who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's. We want to help Mr. Bryant and we believe his books have the potential to be great games, we are looking to adapt the first one into and adventure game that blends zelda style puzzles with shadow of the colossus boss fights, we have a kickstarter up right now trying to raise funds to develop a prototype.

In addition we will also have a this game available on indievania/indiecity which we will be using the sales of to help raise the funds for the project as well as any additional funds raised past the project goal going straight to Mrs. Bryant to help her out. If you purchase the game on indievania you will also get a digital copy of the PC version of the game we are looking to fund. Depending on how much you choose to pay for the game on indievania you may be eligible for some of the rewards on the kickstarter campaign.

If you would like to help you can check out the kickstarter here: tinyurl.com/swordofhope
Or if you would like to check out the game on indievania you can do so here: http://www.indievania.com/games/sword-hope-forest-lost-emotions-0

Thank you so much for your time, I hope you have a great day.

The sprites are poorly implemented, poorly designed, and mostly ripped from other sources (background wise), the mechanics for this are mediocre and not even finished, with no quality being put into the effects for the battle or for anything else. The music is terrible as well, being something that hurt my ears and isn't even properly looped right.

Over all, a very bad demo to show off your game.

I'm not going to mercilessly blam this but I'll say that if you were posting a demo for a game that you're relying on kickstarter to fund, it reeeeaaally should be well done before you do submit it.

The graphics aren't bad at all. The lack of a backdrop with a sickening green colour during combat is annoying though. At least fill it with a modified grass texture of sorts if you don't currently have the time to draw a proper landscape backdrop.
On the gameplay: JRPG style turn based combat was never my favourite, but I can still see some potential behind it. You should've introduced more than just generic attack and run commands for it, like maybe a simple magic system or more physical attacks to demonstrate AP use. And at least one more monster type and varying enemy numbers for the battles would've add some variety to the combat.

The game has potential but it was demonstrated very poorly and should've been worked on alot more before it was made public. I wish you luck in getting funds for your mother, however.

As you well know the game is at the very bottom level of what is passable on the portal. I don't, however, appreciate you trying to use a, let's face it, shitty, rapidly thrown together game to advertise a project on kickGoGoMania or whereever. Blam'd. Please make a proper game ( or submit an illustration to the Art Portal).
