Team Cherry's entry for the Ludum Dare Game Jam 27!

Team Cherry:
Rohan Fraser
Ari Gibson
William Pellen

The theme of this jam was 10 Seconds. So we present to you Hungry Knight, a determined little adventurer with a big appetite. Fight your way through a strange wasteland, keep yourself fed every ten seconds, and accomplish a miracle. Others may perish at your hand, but such is the remorselessness of this world.

A challenging action game. It's hard, but you can do it! Be brave.

Music is from here:

Arrow Keys: Move
Z Key: Attack
X Key: Dash

I think it came together well. the art fits my sense of defined iconic that is often key. & the "going in a frustrating direction" repetitively to see what skill can grow is intriguing to me. I stopped in the middle of the review to play some more (I was about to say that the life loss needs to be more clearly defined, but i wasn't paying enough attention, the first few times as i was learning the game)

Upon going back & trying again (maybe trying harder - but sometimes just allowing the time to integrate what is actually happening vs what i expect to happen) and i went farther & found some things that i didn't encounter before that were very helpful. This is not the game to end all games - but for the aims of it - i think it perfectly hit it's mark.

Too much frustration. Its dashing movement is way too fast and long, I always crash against the enemies. I just can't beat it. But, it is really entertaining.

GeorgeLazenby responds:

Yeah, I think the issue is also that your view of the world is too small, so you can't see what's coming up very well, especially when moving down. Definitely one of those things I'd like to fix, but it's in the spirit of Ludum Dare to leave the game as is I think.

Nice, short game. I feel proud that I beat starvation mode. :P

Oh, for real? Everything we tested it on ran ok, it is pretty graphic intensive though.
