Ripple Dot Zero is a classic action platformer heavily influenced by the aestethics of the 16-bit era of the early The game features 20 Levels of running, bouncing, slashing and Gyro-Blade-throwing, set to the slick beats of an original soundtrack of pure fm-funk schmaltz. Even the sound effects where made with FM-synthesis to give the game that sharp sting of early gaming.

I played this using Joy2Key and a PS2 Dualshock controller plugged into a USB adapter, and I have to say it is....THE MOST FUN I'VE HAD IN A LONG TIME.

I was playing like...Super Meat Boy, before this...and it doesn't even have the same level of quality as Ripple Dot Zero, to be honest. Everything here is so smooth and seamless. Fantastic backgrounds, and I love the way the opening credits appear. And to say the least, I wasn't expecting such an interesting main character (BATTLE PENGUIN?!?!).

I will say I had some minor confusion regarding the camera, but that's alright. I got over it.

The music fits so perfectly, and does its job well to get the player pumped.

I could go on, but I have only played the first level so far. It is like a fantastic blend of Megaman with hints of Ristar and of course Sonic.

out of 10...

GFX - 10 (beautiful sets, characters, and color)
SFX - 10 (Incredible soundtrack cements 90's feeling)
DESIGN - 10 (levels are filled out and keys can be rebound)
GAMEPLAY - 9.0 (minor camera troubles makes things hectic)

Overall, this is just like playing a Genesis classic. It is friendly for all ages, and really sets a new standard in what we have come to expect from Flash platformers. Playing with a playstation controller and joy2key as I did, the fun level was through the roof.

Definitely going to return to this one and would recommend to everyone.

THUMBS WAY UP!

Great game. Definitely 5/5.

There is a bug tho. It fails when loading the bonus stage on the second level saying it cannot find bonus_simon.swf or something like that. Please fix if possible.

That was not good. A quick test and it seems to work fine for me.
If you (or anyone else) experience more problems of this kind, please send a quick report to bugs@pixeltruss.com and I'll get right on it! Thanks /Tommy

Incredible.

Now, if only you had put in more then one 0 point medal :P

But seriously, this raises the bar for Flash Games. This is the kind of game I thought was dead, the flash game with some love put into it. You've proven me wrong, hopefully others will follow suit.

This game is great.
It made me feel like I was playing sega all over again. Please continue the good work (even if you have to kickstart it, I'd pitch in)
