Ripple Dot Zero is a classic action platformer heavily influenced by the aestethics of the 16-bit era of the early The game features 20 Levels of running, bouncing, slashing and Gyro-Blade-throwing, set to the slick beats of an original soundtrack of pure fm-funk schmaltz. Even the sound effects where made with FM-synthesis to give the game that sharp sting of early gaming.

It's a breath of fresh air to see something so creative and new. Taking heavy inspiration from classic games, Ripple Dot Zero is a 16 bit fantasy. The game play is never too fast, or too slow. I feel encouraged to explore and find secrets. At the same time, the game doesn't stack on the difficulty unlike a lot of 16 bit gems. Fair challenge is the name of the game. (or it easily could be.) I was also generally curious to see what mysteries the games plot held. After the first stages, there ends up being huge emphasis on exploring. I actually had to go back a few times and gather more pills. But it doesn't seem to much like a chore. The rescue the ripple bonus stages aren't awful either. I had my expectations low, and thought even the first few would be really hard. Well, I can gladly say they weren't. But, nothing is perfect. This game suffers from "do it again syndrome. That is, if you fail one of these vital bonus stages, you're not gonna be trying it again. you're doing the whole previous stage again. A minor gripe, but i just can't give perfect scores, it's against my nature. What I can do is give it a 4.5/5 and go buy the fantastic soundtrack. You definitely deserve that much for all your hard work. Another minor flaw is length. The game doesn't have that many stages. Personally, my recommendation is as follows: Make an extended version on sale on steam, including bonus levels. Sell it for about 5-10 dollars. Cha-ching. Oh, and offer discounts on the soundtrack if you buy it.
Final verdict: Shut up and take my money. Seriously, you deserve an internet for this. 3 guys made all this? Incredible. This game deserves it's daily first, and will remain a well remembered part of newgrounds history. Thanks for making my day guys.

What can I say? First, the music... it's perfect! It's a bit like Sonic the Hedgehog, but better. The graphics are spot-on, pixel perfect. The tutorial and title level were very innovative, creative, and easy to understand. I also love the powerups and special effects. Overall, it's a wonderful game and I intend to play it a great deal more once I am done with a few chores... I LOVE IT!
