UPDATE: Thanks a lot for the frontpage and all the nice reviews! :)
As I checked the Tutorial-genre on Newgrounds for flixel tutorials I noticed there aren't any and only a few on developing ActionScript 3 games. Since I have already developed a few games with flixel and know about its benefits and how great it is to start making games I thought I could try making one myself for the Newgrounds community.
The game shouldn't be too complicated, easy enough so that even someone without any experience on ActionScript could understand it...
The tutorial isn't just boring text, but it's made in an interesting and entertaining way, using cool effects and a tune made by RealFaction, who also helped me with the development aswell as the nice beta-testers. The tutorial is available in 4 versions. One for people with none experience on coding, one for people with experience on other languages than AS3, one for AS3-developers and one for people who have already used flixel. So that everyone gets the information he/she needs. Not more and not less.
Here's the table of content:
*CHAPTER I - Setting up flixel with FlashDevelop
*CHAPTER II - Importing and adding graphics
*CHAPTER III - Creating and adding a tilemap
*CHAPTER IV - Creating and adding a player
*CHAPTER V - Collisions
*CHAPTER VI - Input and movement
*CHAPTER VII - Creating and playing animations
*CHAPTER VIII - Importing and playing sounds and music
*CHAPTER IX - Using the Newgrounds API to create medals and ads
*CHAPTER X - Conclusion and where to go from here
Not only will it show how to use flixel but also the benefits of the Newgrounds API and how to use it with FlashDevelop and how to add medals and ads. The tutorial will be completely free and will lay the fundament for 8bit-gamedevelopment with flixel. People will be able to go anywhere from here and make their retro dreams come true. If it catches enough people's attention there will also be a second part on creating enemies, guns, more levels and other cool stuff or whatever THE PEOPLE DEMAND! ;)
Cheers!

Was really excited to start learning but now I'm stuck in chapter 2 trying to figure out where I'm supposed to be putting this line of code and getting nothing but errors when I hit F5 while your jaunty 8-bit music mocks my inability to perform this simple action.
I'm sure I'll figure it out eventually, but I wouldn't call this tutorial 100% noob friendly.
Still. Hope to see more and be able to understand it. ^^;

Here are the problems I had when going through it: (I played the 'Beginner' version.)
Ch 1:
When told to open PlayState.as, I first went to bin\FlixelGame.swf\Classes\PlayState (assuming the ".as" was just hidden). It might be good to specify that it's supposed to be src\PlayState.as
Ch 2:
I didn't know where to copy the stuff to at first. It might be good to specify this more clearly.
I tried pressing F5 to see if I had done it right, but it obviously didn't work, as I wasn't done yet. Could maybe add something that says that F5 won't do anything yet, as to not confuse people.
Ch 6:
I initially didn't realise that I had to use the {}-brackets in addition to the []-brackets. In fact, I'm still not sure I've done it right, but at least now it works. This is how I did it: (something tells me that the spaces in the beginning of the lines will disappear when I submit...)
if (touching & DOWN)[]
{
if (up)
{
velocity.y = -150;
}
}
Ch 7:
I'm still confused about the []-brackets. Stuff didn't seem to work at all, so now I just removed them completely and it works fine. I think this is probably the biggest flaw in the tutorial, as it just seems flat out wrong. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, and if that's the case, the tutorial could probably be more clear.
Also, it seems like the tutorial is telling me to write "if ('!left && !right)", which doesn't work. "if (!left && !right)" does.
I also can't seem to get the jump animation to work. My guess is that it's because it's playing another animation at the same time ('idle' because I'm not pressing left or right, I'm pressing up). I should probably download the source and check how it's done there, but I can't remember in which chapter it asked me if I wanted to do that (it would be nice to have a link in the description to where I can download it).
Ch 9:
I didn't actually do this one, I just read it.
-----
And here are some general suggestions:
It would be nice to be able to speed up the text, perhaps by clicking.
An option to mute the music would be very good. It's a good tune, but it gets slightly annoying after listening to it for a long time.
But the main thing about it, what really is what brings the score down to 2.5, is that while this tutorial tells you how to do things, it doesn't really tell you why it works, or what it actually does. This means that while I learn how to make a simple platformer in ActionScript with the help of Flixel, I don't learn how to program in ActionScript with the help of Flixel.
I'm being very critical here, because I don't really see the point in just saying "great game" as long as it isn't 100% perfect. The truth is: I enjoyed it, and I believe I learned something. I won't be able to make my own games right away, but when I decide I want to learn "properly", I'll already have some basic knowledge which will make that slightly easier.
