This is fun and a good time waster. It reminds me of Rogue and NetHack. Actually it's a pretty good graphical and mechanical update of those games. The core mechanics are still similar. As a Rogue fan, I'm very pleased. Even the harsh policy of having to start from the beginning when you die and having all saves erased is Rogue-like. Hacking the save feature in Rogue so that I could start from my last save was one of my first bits of computer programming chicanery ever.

I think I'd really love this game if it weren't buggy. The harsh death/lose saves policy is not cool on a game as buggy as this one. So far, each time I've died has been from bugginess. Once, my character wouldn't stop moving to the right. Another time he stopped being able to use his upgrade points.

You may have to allow saves to restart at the previous level after death if you can't fix the bugs. Otherwise it doesn't feel worth starting from the beginning if a bug kills you.
