A story about two siblings and their selfish father. NATA '13 Novice Round

The theme for the Novice Round was to animate the mood of at least one of four given songs. That's why there's been an influx on movies in the portal that have been using the same few tunes from the audio portal. We had 25 days, as usual, but I managed to do it in 24. I think that's a first for me.

Anyway, I think this one's pretty good. I like the character designs and all that. The only thing I would do differently is the character development. Due to the time limit, I didn't really get to explain the character's personalities too much. All you really need to know is the father isn't as harmless as he seems and he's pitting his two children against each other for his own gain.

Thanks to Chongo, Mattashi, and Step for the voicework, music, and music respectively. That's about it.

ENJOY.

Pretty decent animation. I predicted that they would end up having to put their two halves together. I know you were on a tight schedule but it could have used sound effects and more voices. I don't understand how the father was selfish or why his ghost was trying to stop them or why he started cowering away at the end, so it could have been a lot clearer.

Brewster responds:

I thought about sound effects and voices but i decided it wouldve sounded too cluttered when paired with the song. You answered your first question with your second question. He didn't want them to get his treasure but he needed his half of the key to be activated, which is what brings him back as a ghost. That's why when the girl breaks the keys apart, the dad disappears. He lured them there so that he could come back and get rid of them. Yes, this could have been a lot more clear, and I planned on making it clear, but like you said it was a tight schedule and I had to cut some stuff out. Thanks for the review.
