Persist is a tale of a small spirit, trying to seek a mysterious Goddess to forgive his past sins so he can move on to higher plane of existence. Unfortunately the Goddess really resents him. and tries her hardest to keep the spirit from reaching her, stealing his various body parts and various skills with them. Just WOW! I was totally mesmerized by the way you gave meaning to the little game with that short dialogue at the end. I had goosebumps on my skin.
The gameplay was simple, not much different from most survival platformers. Even the loss of abilities is common in most games but the story made all the difference here.
The music suited the levels well and the difficulty was just shy of becoming frustrating.
And to think you took only 48 hours for this. Thanks for the medal too.
Expecting more such games from you soon.
Cheers!

4.5/5 just because I'm a bit confused about the story. Spoilers for people who haven't finished yet. I don't get it. So the being 'In control' and who won't forgive you, that's the woman at the end? And your character who "persists" is the assailant? I mean, its possible for the doctors to have the situation wrong, though I don't know why you'd include it then. Additionally, maybe there was some large stretch of time between the "real world" and the game. But why are both the assailant and the woman hurt? Why does it seem like the assailant immediately decided to be remorseful? Maybe a spur of the moment thing. Why is the woman "in control" of the "underworld"? Who knows.

anyway its a good game

AdventureIslands responds:

Sound effects are randomly generated using bfxr sound maker. I guess depic1's sounds are made with it too, perhaps?

I enjoyed your game very much. Just a little question: was Michael Jackson's Earth Song the soundtrack? Seems like a very nice touch to the overall story. Congrats, keep making games.
