To be honest it lacks depth. I have played a few of these games and this game lacks the ability to strategise to the same degree. The tanks return to where they came from rather than continue to their set objective. Also the bases that are neutral have 50 'lives' but and no ability to defend themselves, no tanks of their own.

Just a little too simple for my tastes.

The thing that really bugs me is the ad at the end of every single level. It wouldn't load, so I have to refresh this page in my browser and reload the game to continue. Nice game, though.

Nothing groundbreaking, and has some quirks, but it's still worth a play.

I have not written a review in awhile, so I figured it was time to dust off the keyboard, and play a few Newgrounds games. This type of game has had many incarnations on this site, and as a whole I have enjoyed them all for various reasons. This version keeps things pretty simple and keeps the game as a general military based game with tanks, I believe the last one I played was with soldiers, but it's been awhile. If I recall there was one where you were a microbe taking over rival microbes that has to be the most unique of all, but none the less, I still liked this game for type of game it is. It was very simple to learn, and didn't require a lot of thought, so that can be both a plus and minus. I played this game three times on separate days, and enjoyed the fact that I could jump in for 10 minutes, have some fun, and leave without feeling the need to keep the game open in another window to finish later. So it's definitely a good time-killer game.

The drawbacks that I noticed were that despite being a strategy game, I didn't change my strategy at all the entire 20 levels this last time I played. I upped the money regeneration rate, tank creation rate, and the basic model tank and I just decimated the computer for the entire game. Granted that was on Normal, but I ran with the same strategy on Hard, and it was working well for the first five levels, so I didn't see much of a challenge. I ended up just maxing the above three stats and never bothered with anything else, and just crushed the enemy with numbers. The one drawback to this strategy, though, was the lag that would occur towards the last five levels of the game. It wasn't horrible, but there were just too many units for the map, most of which were just hanging out. Maybe some kind of upgraded unit should spawn after so many basic units were on the map? Kind of like Risk where you trade in your 10 solo soldiers for a cannon for ease of movement and practicality.

The other thing that took away some of the fun for me was the AI for attacking/defending. The unit movement was basic and fine, but whenever sending units to a base they would always go on a suicide mission, rarely stopping to shoot the 20 enemy units they just ran past. I realized after awhile I could just click on a specific unit to attack, but with stacked units it just never felt like they were shooting any of them except for the initial one I clicked on. A basic attack move feature would be perfect, so that anything that comes within the units range it would automatically shoot. This feature would also increase the need for getting units beyond that tank because their range would have been better and needed for later levels.

It's probably nitpicking, but I would have enjoyed some kind of terrain variations rather than just a basic flat ground. Some higher ground, some water, a few sand dunes, something to either speed-up or slow down moving units, possibly even provide a little extra cover for defending units. Anyways, in all I enjoyed myself, and felt that it was entertaining, so that's the main thing. I think it's difficult to make this type of game without either having a different concept, or programming the computer to have a well thought-out game plan, much like a game of chess. Either way I think it's a good game, and hope for a few tweaks if there is another.

Thanks for the time-killer!

good game you wont get overpowered if you use the right strategy its not too hard im on lvl 17 right now i dont know why people are having such a hard time upgrade the cannon it generates the fastest for the cheapest use it to dominate the screen then when that dosnt work any more buy and fully upgrade the tesla but dont forget to upgrade money regen and build speed
