Revive is a pixelated puzzle platformer in which you defy death, define life, and jump in puddles of syrup.

It is also a spiritual successor (in more ways than one) to a game of mine called Respawn.

Man, this project started small and snowballed into something more complex and personal over time. Four months of care were put into Revive's design, so without giving too much away, I hope you enjoy the ride.

Also, let me know if you find any glitches anywhere, and I will address them when I can!

[List of Fixes]
The Time Trial Run medal point value has been increased, slight changes have been made to the controls (such as pressing UP to jump), the collision detection on forks has been improved, and a couple of problems with the main menu are now gone.

I've heard the controls stick for some people. Not sure what would cause this, so if anyone can provide more details about this (like when it happens, what browser you're using, etc.), let me know.

"Mysterious controller of the facility turns on you at level 19" games are a little overdone, and, because of this, each one must posses engaging yet not-too-difficult puzzles built around an unusual, interesting, and completely unique mechanism. While Flash games are most certainly unlikely to compete with a certain similar game which may or may not have spawned some cake-related memes, I believe your game has done quite well.
I like the retro feel of this game, but the stickiest part of any retro game is the music. Music must convey the proper emotions without drawing attention to itself through excessive dissonance, volume, or repetition. While dissonance is rarely an issue and volume is easily adjusted, repetition is a reflection of the one who composed it. Retro games tend to have music with a lot of repetition, simply because that is a cornerstone of retro-ness, but intentionally keeping the loop short invites all sorts of horrors. I admire your ability with this music, but Koji Kondo you are not. In short, I thought the music was a tad annoying.
The art was great. I prefer a low-bit, low-res experience because the bright, vibrant colors that accompany it tend to make things very easy to distinguish. There are some games I have found nigh impossible to play simply because the graphics were too good. In this game, that is certainly not an issue. I applaud your artwork. (Not literally, of course, because then my roommates would think I'm even crazier than they already do.)
The twist near the end, though ridiculous and trite, actually scared me a little. Good job.
I have two thousand, four hundred and thirty-two characters remaining.
There were a few features in [RESPAWN] that I was disappointed didn't make it in this game, such as changing colors.
I guess my last complaint is the yogurt. With syrup first, followed by yogurt, I thought there was going to be at least one more semi-food item that could do something cool with really intricate puzzles involving all three. I guess I was wrong.
Overall, great game.

Very amusing game. One could think that aesthetics indicated a simple game on itself but it couldn't be further from the truth. And the puzzles... ah, the warm feeling of accomplishment, level after level...

So, well put together puzzles, responsive controls, somewhat Portal-esque theme albeit quite different from it and standing on its own, along with a matching soundtrack? Definitely a thumbs up, the overall package deserves 5 stars and just went to my favorites.

Congrats on a good job, and I hope you do further games in the future :)
