Our old TVs have returned from being scuttled into space and they have made a sport out of killing humans!

Play as humans to fight waves of Raybots OR play as the Raybots and build new robots for humans to fight. The best robots will be added to official campaigns! Also note - that campaign list has a yellow scroll bar down the ride side, with a lot more campaigns down below!

Big thanks to Mike for all the programming support with the API and drawing tools. Big thanks to Stamper for the player select music and menu sprucing. Big thanks to RicePirate for the intro and select screen voice. Big thanks to all the testers who helped build Raybots!

Controls:
A or Z = Primary Weapon
S or X = Secondary Weapon
Arrows - Run, Jump, Drop through platforms

In human mode you can earn trophies and compete for high scores in the campaign mode. You can also browse the Boss Files and discover bosses not featured in the campaigns! Your letter grade is based on how much health you maintain during battle. Your score is based on a combination of health and time throughout the campaign.

In Raybot mode, you can edit your level, draw your own robot face, equip hats and hands, customize your weapons and record a pattern. While recording a pattern, hit SPACE to open the exit, then walk over the exit to close your loop! Every boss is a looping pattern. You must TEST and defeat your boss in order to save him, otherwise it isn't fair sport.

You unlock hats and hands by voting on the Raybots you fight in human mode.

In Raybot mode, some weapons have alternate versions. For example click the bullet icon multiple times for different bullets, or click the bomb icon multiple times for different bombs. Remember, you can equip both your A and S key weapons! When customization sliders are available, give them a try and see how it impacts your weapon.

Tap your "M" key to toggle Mute.

UPDATE (2/8/13): Turns out there was a massive teleporting bug that could result in you not being able to open the exit and close your pattern loop. I imagine this is the cause of the complaints about that issue. It's fixed! You may need to clear your cache.

Yeah this is awesome! Just the overall design of it is really unique. Well done sir!

The only thing I can think of for improvements would be more guns and power-ups, but like you said before it kind of screwed up the game play pattern so yeah.

Of and, Smoke 'em if ya got 'em Johnny!!

This game is hot, I feel like people are giving it bad scores because of the difficulty. I had a hard time playing with the keyboard though so I'm going to plug up my controller and play this for real

Let me know how it works out with the controller! I haven't tried that.

Using dubstep for music is just terrible, like come on, isn't it already overrated?

TomFulp responds:

There is one dubstep song out of five songs and it plays in the background of the intro narration.

Great idea. Basically, create your own Mega Man styled boss fight. It's a fun game but I have a few issues:

Lack of weapons for human and charge shot issue: Going to put this in Caps so it's easier to read IF YOU FIRE THE FLAMETHROWER LONG ENOUGH (like 5-10 seconds) YOU CAN DO A CHARGE SHOT WITH YOUR BULLET WEAPON. Problem is that there's no indicator if you have a charged shot ready or not unlike Megaman where he starts glowing if he has a charge shot. Would've been nice to have a little more variety.

Health is too high: I understand that you're going for a boss-rush style of gameplay but it feels like you have to make your bot as cheap and random as possible to really pose a threat. Because as a human I can just find a safe spot and wail on the boss and win by attrition rather than memorizing the pattern. I would lower the health so there's a real threat of dying and if you beat a boss that restores 100% of your health instead of 50%.

There is a light on the players shoulder that spins faster and faster and then blinks really fast when the gun is charged. I should add an extra notice that pops up when charging is complete but if you know what to look for you should see it now.

I debated a lot about whether to give back partial health or full health between bosses. The thought behind partial health is that it encourages people to always do their best. When you fight an easy boss it's tempting to be lazy and just take the hits while you spam them with bullets. Knowing that you want to carry over max health to the next boss means you have to always try to not get hit.

Is finding safe spots working for beating all the campaigns? Sometimes the timer will run out if you try to win by attrition in a safe spot. Balancing damage is something I definitely should have spent more time on though.

Awesome. Just awesome. Of course I wans't expecting anything less the way this game has been getting hyped up, but seeing the greatness produced is always something special. The character selection wasn't obvious unless you read the description, nor are the controls. Maybe add some more guidance within the game? When you really start playing though everything works well. the controls in fighting are supereasy and the fights themselves are intense, with great graphics and sound effects and everything looking and sounding like an old arcade game. That would be enough to be a great game, but then there's the level editor, and everything else editor, with which the game just soars to new heights! I've never seen a level editor this simple to use. Overall the interface is just awesomely designed, the game itself is awesome to play, even the introduction was like a movie on itself. Great voice acting too. Can't find anything negative to write about this because there isn't. Great work!
