You have fallen into a vast underground maze. Can you find your way out, or will you end up trapped in darkness forever?

We recommend playing in a dimly lit room with your speaker or headphone volume turned up. It's best to play I Can't Escape late at night, as it is an eerie exploration experience.

Troubleshooting: This game requires flash player 11+. If you don't have flash player 11, the game will tell you, and you should download it (for free) here: http://get.adobe.com/flas hplayer/ .

If you get the error "requires 3D hardware rendering," that means it's not running on your graphics card for some reason. Try right clicking the game, clicking settings, and make sure "enable hardware acceleration" is checked in the display tab, then refresh the page. If that doesn't work, try updating your graphics card driver or your flash player version.

If you're using windows 8, cheese123 mentioned to me that he couldn't get the game to run unless he ran chrome in windows 8 mode. If you're using windows 8 and having trouble, you can try that and see if it makes a difference. Thanks a lot to cheese123!

If you are still having trouble playing the game, feel free to send me a PM!

The sound/music were very good but the playability needs work. No minimap?!? Also, the controls were rigid but maybe I'm just spoiled with all the freedom I get in other games I play.

You have the most important aspect - the atmosphere. You can't really learn that but you can learn the other stuff (ie the control stuff). Good luck with your next game!

In this game, you're supposed to get lost (that's part of it's atmosphere), so maps and navigation controls would actually be counter-productive to the game.

The fact that sometimes you fall through the ground somewhat forbids any kind of game experience. There is no possibility of methodically exploring the labyrinth, thus making this a "walk around randomly while enjoying the atmosphere and the scenery kind of game". The problem is that there is no scenery and little atmosphere, due to the repetitiveness of everything and the harmlessness of monsters. All in all, I think it needs a lot more work.

Was this inspired by a Lands of Lore game? Felt like LoL2 in my opinion. Because of the music, perhaps.

Best of luck with your projects.

interesting game, however the fact that u can only win when u are in the first level make it hard to keep goin if u fall often, when u go down its very frightening and very good part of the game but why would u go far down when your objective is on the first level, remember your objetive on the game is to escape, and the last part i spent more than one hour trying to finish the game thinking at least in the end all my efforts will not be in vain, sad end just go out end see a screen with end game , at least make a final joke like he fall in another hole. btw great environment .

This game was a complete waste of time the idea was good but the execution was not good at all i was hoping to get scared or at least find a way out there are pitfalls after pitfalls that you cant even really see and ladders you cant use and keys that apparently do nothing after about five mins of playing i fell into a small room with four walls that was impossible to get out of and just got an END message i dont know if this is a small demo for whats to come but i hope you do more with this in the future
-sorry for the bad spelling and/or bad grammer

this game is nice and all, but I can't understand how the floor traps work.. I mean, sometimes there are black holes where you fall to the lower floor and other (where you don't fall) that are the exit point of the stairs, but sometimes you fall without no apparent causes, even only turning around in place.. well, this takes away all the fun.. if it's a bug fix it please..

davidmaletz responds:

It's already been mentioned by someone, so there's no harm in telling you the four ways you can fall:
1. Normal pits - you've already seen these.
2. Hidden pits - they look like moss growing over a normal pit, which makes them very hard to see, but you can avoid them.
3. Trap doors - some doors, when you try to unlock/open them will drop you.
4. Ghosts - if a ghost reaches you, even from behind, it will drop you (this is probably what happened when you were turning in place).
