You have fallen into a vast underground maze. Can you find your way out, or will you end up trapped in darkness forever?

We recommend playing in a dimly lit room with your speaker or headphone volume turned up. It's best to play I Can't Escape late at night, as it is an eerie exploration experience.

Troubleshooting: This game requires flash player 11+. If you don't have flash player 11, the game will tell you, and you should download it (for free) here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ .

If you get the error "requires 3D hardware rendering," that means it's not running on your graphics card for some reason. Try right clicking the game, clicking settings, and make sure "enable hardware acceleration" is checked in the display tab, then refresh the page. If that doesn't work, try updating your graphics card driver or your flash player version.

If you're using windows 8, cheese123 mentioned to me that he couldn't get the game to run unless he ran chrome in windows 8 mode. If you're using windows 8 and having trouble, you can try that and see if it makes a difference. Thanks a lot to cheese123!

If you are still having trouble playing the game, feel free to send me a PM!

The controls were alittle to weird and unresponsive. It would be better if you had to hold the key to move in the direction you want on pc, instead of having those function like the touchscreen commands. It made moving around to tedious. Trying to stop and turn to hit a door was just unreasonably painful. Good idea for a game though

The build up of atmosphere was amazing, but with nothing to fulfil it (somthing to jump out) it left much to be desired, after a while of falling deeper and deeper and nothing to make your jump you no longer worry you just grow irritated by the darkness and the apperntly usless keys.
the controls where awkward, a large delay on imput and movement was stiff an awkward. that being said the best part was the build up of atmosphere.

I cannot believe how rediculously long you have to search on the top floor.
i have tried it like 4 times and i always spent like 30 minutes on the top floor and then i get sent down by a fucking trap door. and what is the purpose of the keys if you cant tell on which doors they work?
i have found over 10 keys in my last try but all of them didn't work on the doors that lead to the final ladder. this is fucking ridiculous.

davidmaletz responds:

No key will unlock a door that leads to the final ladder on the first floor! The game doesn't want you to escape, it wants you to fall deeper and deeper :P. Escape is possible, but not without breaking through common sense.

You can never escape! The map changes frequently, and the ladders leading outside on the first level feel like they are programed so you'll never be able to access them -- be it a hidden pit to a lower level, or guarded by gate will never open (I might just be running out of keys by the time I get to them; would be nice to have something that helps track them)!

davidmaletz responds:

You are correct, all ladders are blocked on the first floor. If you're going to escape, you're going to have to break through common sense and make a ladder that was once unreachable, reachable (and it's not going to be as easy as using a key)! Or you can go the easier path, and see how deep you can go!

I dont get how this is scary. is there a monster after some point or something? also, i see how your using the grid for motion, but it feels so clunky and awkward to walk/turn like that...
