You have fallen into a vast underground maze. Can you find your way out, or will you end up trapped in darkness forever?

We recommend playing in a dimly lit room with your speaker or headphone volume turned up. It's best to play I Can't Escape late at night, as it is an eerie exploration experience.

Troubleshooting: This game requires flash player 11+. If you don't have flash player 11, the game will tell you, and you should download it (for free) here: .

If you get the error "requires 3D hardware rendering," that means it's not running on your graphics card for some reason. Try right clicking the game, clicking settings, and make sure "enable hardware acceleration" is checked in the display tab, then refresh the page. If that doesn't work, try updating your graphics card driver or your flash player version.

If you're using windows 8, cheese123 mentioned to me that he couldn't get the game to run unless he ran chrome in windows 8 mode. If you're using windows 8 and having trouble, you can try that and see if it makes a difference. Thanks a lot to cheese123!

If you are still having trouble playing the game, feel free to send me a PM!

i'm not one for horror, so this gave me a scare the first time around. i love the idea, and i've got to say the eyes down in the lower levels are a nice touch

musik is great. it is scary. like the eyes in the walls. ghosts arent scary enough. maybe some creepy sounds whould make the ghosts more scary. moving is quite slow. that can become annoying very fast. good game.

First off, I loved the graphics. Reminded me of Doom. I quite liked the way the escape route was hidden (No spoilers here!) But I felt it was missing something, maybe a monster?

davidmaletz responds:

Did you escape on your first try? That's pretty incredible, but then you missed out on all of the lower levels! If you haven't done so yet, I recommend heading to the lower levels, you'll find things deeper in the dungeon that you may have missed!

Good game; would like to see tighter graphics but otherwise this could be (and mostly is already) a really nightmarish, despairing mindscrew. Getting further and further from my goal...what a scary prospect. Thanks!

You build a really great atmosphere and I have to say my first go at this game gave me a really great impression. However, the following playthroughs weren't that good. You soon realise that once you fall beyond the third floor it's just better to start over. Also, you should make it clearer what the keys do, how many you've collected and such. It would help they player feel like he's making progress and will make it that more heartbreaking when you fall >:D
You might also want to add some other feature to make the player feel like he's doing some progress. But maybe the feeling of wandering aimlessly and not getting anything except more lost was the thing you were going for. That has its charm too!
Not a big fan of the fake gates though. All other holes and such can be avoided but the fake gates just randomly resets all your progress. Not a feature I am a fan of but then again maybe you were going for the frustration of being locked away and just maybe able to escape.
