First project ever in Flash. It took me ages, but I also had lots of fun doing it.
Dedicated to Alessandra, as a very late Christmas gift (Buon Natale, Ale! Ti voglio bene :D).
Sorry for the awful graphics... Next time I'm gonna hire someone to do them for me, I promise.

---Update:
By popular demand, the controls have been changed:
Rotate with Q and E, or J and K, or W
Move with A and D
Accelerate with S
Drop with Spacebar or Z or X or M

Hey, alaways fun playing a new version of Tetris! I didn't play very far, but it seems to include all you could ask for in a normal Tetris game. Like, the ability to speed up a falling brick, music, levels, high score, an option to pause the game, etcetc. The first menu is a bit discouraging (blue and orange... not the best combination!) but the game itself is great. Keep it going!

Better flash work would be nice.
Anyway, on to gameplay, I think that you should give the players an option to change their controls. Besides that, get more unlockables, such as different pieces, and well as more game modes like time challenges.

I mean, why should someone play your game rather than the other Tetris games online?
Just a though. :)

Not bad, It works nicely however I feel like the coloured blocks don't fit in with the B&W background and when your playing the game you can see a dot in the background that could be hidden behind the play area.
Personally I thought it was a great game. Keep up the good work.

Wierd controls, but no bugs.
I hope to see more from you soon.

Three stars because it works great, but come on- tetris? And no visual effects!

Ricvail responds:

Hehe, you're right... not much of an original work, uh?
Well, I had been waiting for months for some kind of inspiration... but then I got tired and decided to work on the first "acceptable" thing that crossed my mind. Now I'm ready for something bigger, and I can't wait to start :)

Why would you push UP to drop something???

In the original NES version, I enjoyed (and counted on) being able to rotate left and rotate right. In the newer 'internet' versions, they replaced the separate rotation ability with "press up to rotate right," which was disappointing, but easy to handle on the arrow keys.

Keep the separate rotation ability, but be sure the control keys are comfortable on the player's hands. Or make them customizable, so players can choose and adjust as necessary. But also use UP to rotate right, as many people are used to that as being a standard control.

Left arrow should be left, right arrow should be right, and DOWN should be drop.

Other than that, the graphics were stylised, but not overly bad, at least, not in gameplay, which is what counts. The font, however, was cheap and nasty. Don't draw your letters, use a font. The music was good.

Ricvail responds:

Thanks for the advice! I'll work on the controls, if I don't get some kind of magical inspiration for a new game, in which case I'm going to leave this project to its destiny... you know, I did it mostly to learn the language (and for my friend), it wasn't meant to be the game of the century.
Which is also the reason I didn't hire a grapher. I am fully aware of the lack of quality, but since it is my first project it could not hope to compete with the many other tetris clones out there anyways.
