NEW UPDATE 1.2b!
============
This is a nice update guys! Here's some of what's included:
-Bugfixes
-2 New Songs
-New Mouse Control
-LESS BLUR
-Rain is off by default, you can turn it on if you would like.
-New logo
-Cleaned up code a bit, so it may run faster!
-Resetting game data now resets game settings
-Rain will actually disable when disabled (bug for some users)
-iPhone/iPad users can add the game to their homescreen for enhanced fullscreen gameplay

Note android users: Do not play on mobile chrome. It sucks at html5. Use the stock android browser, or anything else you find that works best for you!

Hello NG! Pixel Pirat3 is the result of a simple little idea in my head, and the desire to make a simple little game in HTML5 canvas. However, I challenged myself to make the game playable on almost any device. I personally have an iPad (3rd gen) and a Samsung Galaxy S III. It plays great on those. My friends have iPhones, and it plays great on those as well.

Now, onto gameplay! All you need to do is to control the red boat to avoid the cannonballs being fired from the orange boat. Every once in a while, the orange boat will fire special bonus balls (yeah, I'm so sick of "ball" jokes after making this) that either give your health back, or give you bonus points. All the scores are saved, so you can refresh/leave the page, and your scores will still be here. Play with a friend and see who can score higher!

The really cool thing about this game is that the orange boat fires the cannonballs in beat with the music. Now, you may be thinking "meh, I've seen it before", but you probably haven't seen it in a JavaScript HTML5 game that you can play on your phone via Newgrounds! It was pretty tricky to get it to work on all mobile devices. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I HATE APPLE'S HTML5 RULES AFTER MAKING THIS GAME. For example, you cannot have any music start/activate/load/think /breathe WITHOUT the user activating a touch event by touching the screen. That means no random sound effects, or menu music. Period.

Anywho, I will be adding many more features to this game as the weeks go by, so leave me comments telling me what you want to see changed/added!

Have fun! (And remember, try it on your devices! Tell me how it runs!)

Terrible game. There are far too many orange dots, and the blur makes it almost impossible to tell where they are. This at most a beginner 101 level game. The kind of thing you make when you are learning and would never actually post. And dont say the poor quality is because it was supposed to play on a mobile device, because mobile games are still much better than this.

I gotta say I loved it and think people are being too harsh.
What you have done with making it work on multiple devices is genius and I wish more more games had that implemented.
I love the music choices and how the shots went along so well to the music. I had no trouble with the frame rate or the song not lining up and I'm playing from a crappy laptop. The response time for moving the ship is impeccable.
My only problem was telling the difference between green and orange (kinda colorblind) but that's more of a personal issue. And I did wish that the shorter songs looped or that they were longer =P
Either way this is a great game and i played through every song, Keep up the good work!

Things to note for future updates and fixes. I plan to update the game soon, and fix a lot of the things people complained about. Like I said in the description, it's an experiment. Because of the mostly positive reaction, I'm wanting to make a platformer in html5. We'll see how that goes.

Thanks for the review :)

1 star because its original, 1 star for the music, 1 star for retro graphics (very personal apreciation), 1 star for game control. But -1 because is a little too repetitive. Anyway, i liked it!

Sirtopeia responds:

Thanks :)

isn't coding games in notepad common?

i've put together a lot better and more complex titles than this and they were mostly put together with a text editor and command line compiler.

Sirtopeia responds:

It is common, but all the other html5 games here on newgrounds were written in some game maker. Construct, I think.

Can I play on my 3ds?

Sirtopeia responds:

I honestly have no idea. It might run, but EXTREMELY slowly.
