Final Round entry for Albino Black Sheep's Tournament of Flash Artists 2012. The final contestants had only about 3 weeks to complete their entries.
Round theme: "Character Origins"
Challenge: Depict an original, not-designed-before protagonist - or antagonist - who is strongly defined by a strength and a weakness (that aren't the same trait/ability
Opponent this Round: Patrick94
This cartoon is what won me the title of "TOFA 2012 Champion."
For this round, I wanted to do a movie without dialogue. The judges were probably expecting another funny cartoon with lots of dialogue, and I feel that I managed to catch them off-guard.
This isn't the same movie that was turned into ABS; I spent one extra day to add some minor improvements to the movie, bringing the total time spent on this movie (including concept, storyboard, animation, picking music) to 18 days. That also makes this movie a Director's Cut, I guess.

This is a double honor for you in the fact that 1. I rarely write reviews. 2. Not to show off as "manly" or anything, but I just don't cry about stuff. This movie here made me cry. In no words whatsoever, you made me feel the emotion between these characters that fully budgeted productions rarely ever accomplish. For that you must be commended.
Technically, this is an impressive piece as well. I thought the animation was very good overall. I only noticed animation "choppiness" in a few areas (where the animation just jumps unnaturally by just a few frames) but 99% of it was very smooth, especially facials. And holy cow: that cat scared the crap out of me.
Thank you for making this awesome piece.

That was beautiful. The undertones of love and devotion between family was expressed wonderfully in such a simple way. Who knew that even paper dolls face perlious situations to be reunited with each other. Love this.
Aww, gee. Thank you, I'm glad you like it! :D

A flawlessly executed, meaningful and emotionally moving short animation. This is something undeniably rare even by NG's Frontpage standards. The fact that this was made under tight time constraints makes it all the more impressive.
A masterpiece and a well-deserved winning entry at any rate.

Beautiful, emotional, sweet - all in one!

This... is perfect. It truly made me feel my emotions, love, fear, sorrow, and happiness.
The animation was fluid and choice of music excellent. The story touching.
There needs to be more animations like this.
