Simple point and click, similar to The Sagittarian.

This was a bit of an experiment, and I realize it might be a tiny bit more text heavy than some players might like. That's okay though, I had a good time making it, and it was a fun experience.

I was trying to think of a way to combine rpg dungeon crawl elements with fantasy book bodies of text. Originally it was going to track stats and all kinds of goodies, but it was conflicting with the story-telling elements of the text pretty heavily.

It's something I'd like to revisit in the future though, and maybe refine. I think a bit more art, and a bit less text would be good, but no so much as to destroy the idea.

Anyway, hope you guys like it, thanks for playing! And a special thanks to Newgrounds for helping me do this kind of thing. I really, really enjoy it!

While I do LOVE games like this, The Children of Brinn seems to be lacking.

My first issue is that there is not much branching out. Sure there are multiple "roads" you could choose, but most of them just lead to the death of the entire party. I mean sure, if you play enough times, you learn new things, meet new people (The Berserker and The Guardian), but it all just ends up to the same conclusion: Totally bitch slapping the final "Boss" like he was a toddler.

This brings me to my next issue: The game ends very, very abruptly. I would have maybe enjoyed leaving the cave and the dangers of returning to the village. Maybe the village has been attacked. I don't know, Brinn just left so much to be desired.

One thing that I did like about this game is that you actually kind of care about the characters, at least I did. Don't ask me why, not much development or relationships, but I liked them. I was sad when Will or Nebel died.

In short, this was a pretty good game, but due to the lackluster ending and pretty linear gameplay, it is kept from greatness. Even if it was kept back only slightly.

Hyptosis responds:

Thanks for the feedback. It was a bit of an experiment, base don the reviews I might try to release another version with more details and better endings. It was a tough thing to keep straight too. I certainly planned for it to be much bigger than it was, it's already fairly large when you look at everything under the hood, it just feels small when you play it and that's a bummer.

Thanks!

Needs illustrations. Page after page of text is tiring in this choose-your-own-adventure. I think many people are just clickclickclicking their way through.

I had a very good time playing this, though it was far from perfect. Too often I felt like I had no control over what was happening, despite the decisions I made. There were also too few choices. This is, of course, my opinion. It was still enjoyable. So then,
+ Interesting characters
+ Story hints at a larger world that could be fleshed out in future
+Visuals serve their purpose
+Medal's are well implemented with story, and work.
-------------------------------------
----
-The ability to have items, yet very few are available.
-Too few choices.
-Characters abilities and skills are rarely taken advantage of.
