Knight Run is a fast-paced fighting game where your goal is to get as far as possible without dying. Along the way, you can fight enemies to gain experience and levels which allows you to learn skills to better fight off enemies.

This is only my second game, and it's just a completely reprogrammed version of the first one/first game I've made. (Next will be a completely different game, not Knight Run 3.)

I really appreciate any comments and constructive criticism you can give me. :)

=======How to Play=======

Arrow Keys -> Move
Spacebar -> Jump
Z -> Attack
X -> Block
C -> Skills Menu/Pause game
Double tap right/left -> Sprint
Attack while sprinting -> Sprint attack
Down arrow key while in air -> Jump attack

Ugh,not well executed at all, there's no variety to the combat at all, you're just jamming on the x button until they fall over, which is boring. The graphics, while polished, aren't interesting to look at, with the same green field repeated over and over add nausea. But by far the biggest problem is the block, which unless I'm doing something horribly wrong, doesn't work at all.

Thanks for telling me exactly why you don't like, that helps for me to improve on those aspects of the game.

I'm actually currently working on adding different "biomes" I guess you could call them to the game, so the background isn't the same the entire time, along with some combat skills+different attacks.

Blocking only works if you're facing the source of the attack. It is guaranteed to half the knockback and damage you take and has (currently) about a 1/5 chance to nullify all damage and knockback. I'll increase the chance of that happening in the next version as well.

I can guarantee you I won't leave this game to work on another game until this one is polished off nearly completely.

Wow.. Over a year since I've reviewed a game. Seems like forever ago lol.
Art: 4.0 Basic style, but it fits the game and each object and character fit together. The art feels like it belongs in the game, which is a good thing. The only thing that bothers me, for some reason, is the break between the grass and the sky. Just feels unnatural.

Sound: 4.5 Like the art, it feels right in this game. My only issue with it is a personal one: I prefer to have a choice of at least two tracks. But the sounds from the characters were good as well.

Controls: 5 Simple, but responsive. That's all anyone can ask.

Story: N/A You're a knight who runs. What's there to not understand? Lol, but a backstory would be nice.

Gameplay: 3 Don't get me wrong, i have no problem with the gameplay itself, there are just a few kinks needed to be worked out. The shield didn't really block as well as I'd hoped. The sword really wasn't even necessary because you could just outrun almost everyone in the game even before you upgrade your speed. The level system was nice, although it took awhile before I noticed real improvements. Plus, I really don't think I used the jump once.

Overall: 4

I would recommend adding maybe one or two more tracks to choose from, maybe an upgrade shop for armor and weapons, some obstacles you have to jump over (like a small barricade), and perhaps bosses that you can't run past. Good luck man. Keep it up.

Thanks for the review!

I can see what you mean with the break between the grass and sky. I'll attempt to fix that up.
I'll also try to find another gameplay track that the game will switch between, instead of one song looping over and over like it is at the moment.

I'm implementing a feature in the next version that prevents you from moving on until all enemies are cleared, along with more attacks and skills. About jumping: it isn't the most useful thing but there isn't much I can do to improve it. Although, I may add an attack involving it.

And for obstacles, I'm also currently working on adding them! And for bosses, like I said in a previous response to a review, I'm going to see if I can implement some mini-bosses every now and then that'll give you a nice bonus once defeated.

I thought the game was well made, exept for a few things.
First of all, there are only 3 skills, i was thinking of like unlocking combos and magic skills
Lastly, you should be able to use the sword and sheild while moving.
So what I thought about the game, I thought it was made really well with a lot of time into it but has a a lot of potential to be great. The rating I will givefor this is 4 out of 5. :)

Thanks! I'll be working on adding movement during attacking/blocking as well as more attacks + maybe combos. ;)

That straight line distracts me a lot
*You only have 3 moves, and thats a huge
drawback. If you could use some combos,

A pros and cons list! Thank you very much! I just woke up a little bit ago, actually, and I was planning to add some more attacks. I'll also try adding some backgrounds and maybe throw in a story, with a mini-boss fight every now and then.
