(This game is a tribute to Gunstar Heroes and all the classics that my favourite game company Treasure made. It's also got little shout outs to over games as well.)
Yes, I know stuff is missing and some stuff could be done better, but it's just a little flash project I wanted to really do for myself. It's a mix between, Gunstar, Megaman and Contra.)
(If you like this game, or any classic 16 bit, run 'n' gun games, please help me fund a fully featured game through Kickstarter!)

Well, it's finally done. I know it's a bit late but I ran into some issues like you do. Anyway it's all there, four big levels, lots of bosses and some retro action sprinkled on top.
It's pretty difficult but there is unlimited continues to counter balance that aspect. I've added medals and extras to unlock for you peeps who enjoy that sort of thing.
It's a big, CPU heavy game, so if you're experiencing lag, you can download the standalone offline exe for free. (You could also resize the game by 2x to it's native 320x224 resolution.)
Here is the stand-alone:

Anyway, I hope you like it, it took a while to make and I have put a lot of effort into this, (about four months worth really.) So yeah, hope you enjoy.

4 and haif stars merely because no diagonal shot. it does add to the difficulty but feels as though you should shoot diagonally. You really pulled off the old school snes feel though. kinda like a cross between contra for the powerups and megaman for the life bar and enemies. Very nicely done I look forward to playing all of your games.

totally tugged on my megaman boner, but some parts are really fucky. one of the bosses caused me to quit. not because i kept losing but the robots arms kept going off screen and not coming back when i was supposed to blow them up. and finally i was like fuck dat. fun though.

it seems like a nice concept, but i think being able to switch up the controls would make the game a bit more bearable. i couldn't get past the first level because of how alien and unnatural the controls felt; it was almost like i was doing everything backwards. normally i move with wcasd in platformers, but this game actually forced me to use the arrow keys. a game with controls as simple as this should allow for some customization in my opinion.

Good Game, Nice music selection, just the fact that, you have a high chance of getting hit no matter what on bosses. if it would have made it a tad easier like in the first boss, when fish are flying up from the ground, they hit u no matter what. if you were allowed to shoot downwards that would be awesome. but 4 stars

I just played the first stage. Not a bad game but it could have been harder. The first boss took forever to show up. I went through wave after wave of jumping fish before the boss showed up for one jump, then wave after wave of fish again. That was the only death I had was cause all those fish. The second boss could not have been any easier unless it just stood there for you to shoot. The last boss was slightly harder but still no problem.
