High Scores

Man In Space

Author Comments

Man in space is a game where you play as a man trapped in space, similar to asteroids.
The game-play is based around a simple principle where if you were in space and fired a gun it would propel you in the opposite direction. The player must destroy the incoming asteroids in order to stay alive while simultaneously using the gun to maintain control of the spacemans velocity and direction. Game-play should be very simple as the challenge of the game will simply be to see how high of a score you can obtain.

The game should feel like a constant struggle to maintain control, in an isolated world which becomes more and more chaotic.

This game accomplishes what it set out to do. The controls are annoyingly difficult when the man is near the edge of the "space", and it's kinda repetitive. But if fast paced, challenging, high-score-oriented games are your thing, you'll enjoy this.

thought the animation could've been better, along with the art, which i felt was lacking a little. controls were okay but the physics kinda annoyed me. and lack of music :/ however i know this took effort so here you go!

That was fun for a quick play. But after playing it twice there didn't seem like a huge point in continuing. You could add some kind of upgrade system or bonuses to mix up the gameplay a bit. It got stagnant even in the short period of time that I played it. At the same time it was an interesting idea and game, and I do give you props for that. I also liked when the guy died with the little rush of blood out of his suit. it would have been nice to have some other sound effects in there like some "oh no no god no"'s or something as you get close to an asteroid.

One thing I did notice (and this could be because the game is still under judgement as I am reviewing it) the high score board did not work for me.

So overall, I decided to give this 3/5 and 3.5/5 stars (it was really in between, just a little more repayable could have pushed it up some but it never really hooked). I think it is a fun idea that could be improved upon, but got old too quickly for me. I like the styling and the game played well. Keep up the good work!

Great feedback thanks all!

This is the first game I ever made and it's exciting to see what people think.
I agree that the game needs a little more added to it to keep people interested.
Also I've not yet figured out how to integrate with the scoreboards on Newgrounds and am looking to get this figured out as soon as possible. Trying to beat your high-score is kinda important to the game-play.

Again thanks for all the great feedback. I look forward to releasing the next version.

The game has a good start and overall theme, but it could stand to be more interesting. Maybe if it had levels where the difficulty gradually increased, it would be more fun, as it would give a rewarding feeling. Also, maybe different guns, with different power levels could spice it up a bit.
