the only problem i see with this game is the energy for non-members and the fact you can run out of your mist tank in less than an hour. Making it hard for non-members to actually accomplish something. So purpose that the developers should lower the cost of elevators, alchemy, and other things that cost 10 energy to 5 or 8 energy just to make the fun last longer.

Guys! One thing, we are rating a GAME here, not the website, if your computer sucks at playing this game it's your problems, also this game isn't an add 'cuz you can just play it. Write a review about the game.

For those of you having problems with the Java versions: it's a known problem that Java 7 and Spiral Knights don't always cooperate. Downgrade to Java 6 and everything should work fine. I'll post relevant info here:

All you really have to do is uninstall Java 7 and reinstall Java 6 from the Java site.

The eHow: ll-older-version-java.html

You guys have more of a challenge. Apple provided a version of Java 6 and below, which works the best with iOS (obviously) and is what you should use.

Site: ewlocale=en_US

(in case that link doesn't work, this is basically copy-pasta'd)

This is assuming you have Java 7 currently installed and are running the current iOS. Note that you need to be an administrator to do these changes.

1. Go to Applications and open the Utilities folder.

2. Open Terminal.

3. Enter this command, press enter:
sudo mkdir -p /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/disabled

4. Enter this command, press enter:
sudo mv /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/disabled

5. Enter this command, press enter:
sudo ln -sf /System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.b undle/Contents/Resources/JavaPlugin2_
NPAPI.plugin /Library/Internet\ Plug-Ins/JavaAppletPlugin.plugin

6. Enter this command, press enter:
sudo ln -sf /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.fra mework/Commands/javaws /usr/bin/javaws

That should do it. Don't ask what all that jargon actually did, I won't claim to know what any of it means, really. All you should know is that your Mac will now recognize your Java 7 as the Apple-provided version of Java SE 6, and that you will now probably be able to play Spiral Knights unless your computer has other issues.

These fixes should, obviously, work with all web-based launchers for the game found on the various sites, whether they be the Spiral Knights main website, Kongregate, Newgrounds, or where ever else this game exists that isn't Steam.

The honest simple answer to all of this, which I'll recommend to first-timers or newer players that haven't invested much time, is to get SK through Steam. It seems to auto-fix the Java problem, so you don't have to do anything manually.

For those of you that have already played the various browser-based versions (NG/Kong/SK site) and don't want to restart everything, like I said, downgrading to Java 6 usually solves the problem.

And before anyone asks about possibly merging Kong/NG accounts onto Steam - it isn't possible. I'm not sure what Newgrounds does, but I'm sure it's the same formula as Kong. When you create an account on Kong it auto-assigns a user login name, something like Kong######, the #s being randomized numbers. There's no possible way to figure out that login; I'm assuming NG does the same thing.

You can, however, merge the SK site info into Steam, since you create your own login credentials.

Hopefully this should help anyone who can't start up the game due to Java-related problems. I remember dealing with it myself, and it was a pain in the neck trying to troubleshoot for this. There simply isn't that much info out there.

Have fun guys! See you in there, maybe.

(might repost this later on as a standalone forum post so it doesn't stay indefinitely buried)

The perfect game for the busy gamer.. cant get yelled at by the girl for playin it too long. I love the classic 3d casual gameplay.. none of that point and click crap either.. kinda like a zelda/megaman blend with multiplayer elements.. i wish parties could be bigger just for s&g but overall worth the time compared to most of its caliber.
