Soulcaster was built in XNA and originally appeared on Xbox Live Indie Games. It has been ported to PC (along with its sequel), and this HTML5 version is its latest incarnation, made possible with Kevin Gadd's JSIL technology.

This is kind of an experiment, offering the full game on Newgrounds for free--we're not sure what impact this will have on retail sales or what kind of ad revenue we'll get, but I'm excited to bring this game to a wider audience.

Drop me a line to let me know what you think!

We recommend using the latest version of Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome to play, but a modern version of any web browser should work.

If the game is stuttering or lagging please ensure you have at least Firefox 16 or are running Google Chrome.

Known browser issues:
Internet Explorer 10 has a bug that makes text scroll off the screen.
Sound and music may not work in Safari.
If you run into issues in either of the above browsers, please try a different one. We apologize for the inconvenience!

If keyboard input isn't working, try clicking on the game window.

The game does not currently support touchscreens, so if you're on a phone or tablet, we apologize.

If the game fails to load or crashes, please click 'Show Log' and copy the text out of the log so that we can fix the crash. We really appreciate it.

Have fun!

What a great concept. Such simple mechanics and yet such a great game. Small story line was a nice touch too. I very much enjoyed this game.

MagicalTimeBean responds:

You can tell story is not my strong suit as a developer. Fortunately I have some close friends who let me know when the story is getting a little light, and how to use dialogue to bring up the tension and remind the player what they're doing this for.

I was surprised to see the name title up on the featured list
I own this game! Both in fact, so I was quite dubious about it's release here on Newgrounds (theft?!) Though the lengthy author's section cleared that up.

It's as fun as I remember- Interesting twist on the defense aspect. Limiting player prowess, reliance on summons, applying tactics is a must, upgrade system (never enough money for everything, is a plus- archer all the way!) Unique individual aspects to each summon is what makes the game. Positioning is the game maker here. Having trouble with the game (plays fine some, I recommend supporting it on XBL Indie!)

- and glad to hear a third is on the way...

but I wonder as well how this will effect revenue for you..
General response seems good though.

Hope this decision works out. Not sure if I would have done the same. 80 points is more than fair (more so for 2, that ones loooong. -_-)

MagicalTimeBean responds:

Hey an XBLIG customer! Thanks for your continued support of my games. And yeah, Shaedu is more effective, but takes a bit more skill to position strategically.

Sadly, I only receive a blank black screen... :(

MagicalTimeBean responds:

Sorry to hear that! Sounds like a browser issue. I suggest the latest Chrome or Firefox for best results. If that doesn't fix it, definitely PM me or Antumbral so we can troubleshoot it.
