In every Final Fantasy cinematic, I've always wondered why they don't really emphasize the spells that much since the name of the spells sort of what makes Final Fantasy its franchise. So I tried it myself and see how it would look like.

I'm astonished o.o Not only for the animation (very high quality), but what I really loved was the design of the place (extremely simple but catching), the skills themselves (of course inspired by classic rpgs and FF, however they are impressive) and their timing, I loved the crescendo (typical? well, be true with yourself: you cant say no to any crescendo) and the great choice of the skill "Doom/Death Sentence" as end.

Being a fan of the FF series, I really enjoyed this FFVIII intro reworked or whatever you wanted to be :)

Awesome movie, plays very well to the music, the only thing I would have put in, since its a Final Fantasy, is Damage numerals, ya know, like did the final summon do 9999 on the white mage? Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable video that i like to watch over and over, your animations are fun to watch. Cheers.

There is nothing that makes Final Fantasy a unique franchise aside from its rapidly withering record of excellence (having amazing storylines died after FF9 (I don't know about 10 or 12, haven't played them, and 11 doesn't count), having amazing characters mostly died around the same time, the only thing that's been retained is the amazing graphics/settings), recurring classes, recurring enemies/animals, and as you said recurring spells.

And the review: it was good. My main gripe is that while Distant Worlds is a good album, there might have been other things better suited to the flash. That and I KNOW you could animate actual people if you wanted to. It'd be a serious pain but you could.
