Yep, it's done.

Second Wind, folks, Second Wind is here.

It's a witty blend of Text Adventure, Roguelike, and Sweet Simplicity.

All in all, there are 20 classes, three skills each, three major areas, four endings, countless monsters (as in, I'm too lazy to count them,) treasures, specialty shops, equips, weapons, and more.

Folks, this is one big game.

Also, there are medals, lots of em'

I sincerely dare you to beat the game on Nethack Difficulty.

And remember, dying is all a part of the experience :D

The last update was on October 21st, Version 1.57:

- Fixed up the Saiyan's awaken doing absolutely nothing.
- Fixed the broken meter glitch... Hopefully.
- The "explore" segment should run faster.
- And some other stuff I can't remember.

Send a PM with any additional problems and I'll get on them as soon as possible! <-- Now there's a wiki too!

fave game of the week.
i would give a 4 for the bugs but i see that you work on them.
probably i bugged the game too much though

about 4 days ago i had the potionpoison bug which killed you but you fixed it

today i found that gaining armor from amon you lose 5hp.
maybe it's not a bug and i haven't noticed before but i managed to get -35hp which killed me right at the next battle.
then i unlocked the rune of enragement achievement but necro decided that i didn't.
i'll try another time to see if i can unlock him but it doesn't look promising :\
is the max lvl 25? cause it stuck there and i though i got past 30 not sure though.

squidly responds:

Yes, the max level is now 25.

As for Armon, yep, that's the downside, just like any other church, one stat increases and another stat decreases.

I'm having trouble keeping the game muted; I turn off the sound on the main menu but once I get to the screen where you choose characters it comes right back. Other than that? This game has officially stolen more of my time than I care to admit.

squidly responds:

I've officially replied to more positive reviews then I care to admit, thanks!

Just like in Dwarf Fortress; Losing is fun!
But honestly, it's a great game. I love how you can upgrade yourself in a kind of RPG like way, and sometimes can choose between just heading on quickly and probably getting killed, or grinding EXP a little bit so you won't die right away. Having a few different classes is always cool, and I also really love that ironic humor with most enemies.
The only thing that kind of bothers me is that sometimes, certain things just seem to change randomly, for example, the EXP you get seems to vary a bit from time to time, even if you always play on easy, and on the second stage, monsters are sometimes impossible to hit. I tried it twice with a paladin and had about the same dex, one time it almost always worked, and one time, it literally NEVER did.
So I suppose that is kind of a glitch, if you could fix it, then this game would be PERFECT!

squidly responds:

Naw, you just gotta buff your dex - also, Paladins can offer and get a special bonus mid-battle.

I'm digging this game. A lot. At first i felt it was way too simplistic but as I kept getting curb stomped I felt I shouldn't rush into it so brashly. I figured out the stats more or less and chose my classes of choice.

Monk was definitely my favorite class and Paladin made NetHack such a sweet ride. I'm definitely going to do what I can to unlock the other classes.

I did have a few gripes though;

In the first Area, there was a door for the maintenance room or something I had to unlock with a key (You know, the other one that didn't lead me to the second area... That one.) It felt that after I had hit a certain level, it was totally cut off to me. Which was a shame since when I finally found the guy I had to buy the key from, I was at level 8 and I grinded all the way to level 16. At a point, it just felt that i was either getting those Wandering dudes and the equip/armory smiths. Now I'll never know exactly what it is that was behind that door.

Secondly; In the third area, It seems that the Arena to fight those ranked fights became glitched for me when I wandered around the Blue Wall and fought those Wall knights. I did 2 ranked matches and fought those Wall knights afterwards. when I found myself at the arena gates, I couldn't enter because I was Ranked -3 (I'm assuming since I was at 2nd rank and fighting 3 or 4 wall knights ruined my ranking)

There was another issue but I don't believe it wasn't critical. If I remember it, I'll let you know.

Also, Dat tree. Wats up with that, yo?

Anywho. It's like a quarter to 5 in the morning. This was a great insomnia inducer. I loved the game and I'll keep working at it. Fantastic job!
