Don't Escape
I'm a werewolf and it's a full moon. I have to find a way to prevent myself from escaping.

Did you play Ragnarok Online? Do you like that game?
3.53 / 5.00 13,451 ViewsI don't know how this will be received, but I'd like to say that this is a story first and a game second. The gameplay was really just tacked on to pace the story, and to drive the horror element home a little harder. If you don't find this scary, then fine. I made it short because I know it doesn't stay scary long. Just try and accept this for what it is.
Gemini is a horror game I've been working on for a while. The idea bounced around in my head a bit, taking influences from Eye Spy, Ghoul's Forest, the scary maze game, and more. The story is also original and written by myself, though I did have many influences while writing that as well.

Okay i'm not here to bash your creative genius or anything so please take this in the kindest way possible. Jump scare's are fun when your playing a game and you really get into it and your pulled in it can down right terrify you. The story really pulled me in and I found myself wanting more but after awhile the damn faces just pissed me off and I wasn't scared, you mentioned something about a cat jumping out of a locker in your comments and something like that would have really made this game! I would love to see more of your work in the future but maybe instead of constant faces you could have us walk into a room or anywhere searching for notes and then a body falls from the ceiling and then chases us and maybe as we close the door on their face we find a note in its mouth or something? basically sticking to the original jump scare concept but in a way where we don't expect it or so it doesn't nearly kill the game even if i know things are going to jump out and scare me if I don't know where their coming from it can still scare me anyway I think you did a very good job at the story and the concept was good i look forward to seeing more of your stuff.

Great review!! This site needs more people like you!
I think the idea of non-fatal jumpscares is a really brilliant way to increase the tension and suspense. Since the limited sight-line is sort of the main mechanic of this game, I'm not positive how I could have included jumpscares without somehow illuminating the entire environment for the player, but you're definitely right that more kinds of scares would keep the game unpredictable and unique. I shall DEFINITELY keep this in mind for any future horror projects.

I gave up after a minute or so. Just got annoying after all that screaming. Seems the game is shallow and only designed to scare you with lame youtube frights. So I'm not inspired to keep playing. It's a game for children.
I imagine that happened because you just kept moving the mouse too fast and ramming straight into shadows.

The game wasn't enjoyable, for me it was more frustrating and annoying than scary. The first couple times the shadows got me I jumped - I'll give you that much.
However it loses the fear real quick. Jump scares (very cheap by the way) only really work when you don't expect it and it's doesn't happen as often. It was very annoying navigating around the room to find a tiny icon that was meant to be the pages. I couldn't even read through the entire thing because I kept getting interrupted by the "waking up in a cold sweat".
I got so annoyed that I just stopped trying to avoid the shadows and I waved the mouse around clicking on anything to find the pages. Was there even a point to the candles by the way?
I did finish the game, I don't really have much nice things to say about it.
Hmm. I get your point, it's way too easy to just muscle through the game if you don't mind losing a lot. I had the idea for this game for a long time, but didn't realize how flawed the concept was until it was too late. Ultimately I decided the best option was just to release it anyway and try for something else later.

awesome story, I hated myself but I had to get through the jump scares because the story really pulled me in. Thomas silverstein's case is insane, I think it's really great that you included links at the end there, along with the quote.
Thank you.
Gosh, you're the first person to mention the true stories at the end. I'm really glad you enjoyed the story!
