Here's my entry for Ludum Dare 24! The theme this time was Evolution. Ludum Dare is a world wide game developing contest where participants must work alone and create a game from given theme in under 48 hours.

In this game, you must travel the stages and eat creatures that are smaller than you. After you have eaten
enough, you are ready to evolve and you need to find the stage exit to proceed to the next level. You need to eat around 20 creatures to get a message that you are ready to evolve. You don't have to eat every single creature in the level.

Use arrow keys to move and jump/swim
Use Space to bite.
Use P to pause
- and + to adjust volume
0 to mute/unmute
Esc to return to main menu

NOTE: If the game appears very laggy for you, try different browser. No guarantee, but I've heard it's fixed the problem with some folks.

The idea is good, the graphics are cool, the enemies cool, but I think the player dies too easily, and the spacebar for chomping something is awkward to manoeuvre. Perhaps it would be easier to consume something simply by swimming/running past it. I keep coming back to this game to get a better play out of it, but it never comes.
Cool concept though.

Not bad, but flawed in my opinion. The first stage was the most successful. The whole dying without a checkpoint on that stage was great, because when you died it was fair, and you were learning something. Or you just screwed up. The point is, it felt like it was my fault when I died on the first stage. However, on the second stage there was a MAJOR issue with identifying which leaves are platforms and which aren't. Worms being on a leaf that you are going to fall through to your death are not nice. The third stage is just pathetically easy, except for the last part, which can be very difficult and make the final stage very tedious.
Overall, the game could have been made a lot less tedious and a lot more fun with a little extra forethought. Loved the artwork and music.

The game overall was well done. The controls were a bit touchy, sending me farther than i wanted to go sometimes. I agree with adding a health bar. Dying in one hit and starting over was what made the game hard at all. If that was on purpose or not i am not sure.
As of the story line... not much to it. It could have some potential though if you developed a story.
It was a very good idea to add more edible creatures than necessary in case some were out of reach, good call there.
Music was ok, graphics ok (considering the type), and controls handle well
