Here's my entry for Ludum Dare 24! The theme this time was Evolution. Ludum Dare is a world wide game developing contest where participants must work alone and create a game from given theme in under 48 hours.

In this game, you must travel the stages and eat creatures that are smaller than you. After you have eaten
enough, you are ready to evolve and you need to find the stage exit to proceed to the next level. You need to eat around 20 creatures to get a message that you are ready to evolve. You don't have to eat every single creature in the level.

Use arrow keys to move and jump/swim
Use Space to bite.
Use P to pause
- and + to adjust volume
0 to mute/unmute
Esc to return to main menu

NOTE: If the game appears very laggy for you, try different browser. No guarantee, but I've heard it's fixed the problem with some folks.

You need a how to play in game. You can't expect us to just know what to do. The exit isn't obvious if you don't go to the light.

Hey cool, a remake of E.V.O. This game would be awesome if someone spent more time but pretty cool nonetheless!

Overall, not too shabby, but needs much improvement.

The game works, so that's a plus. However, the addition of a counter would have been nice. In the ocean level, I can understand why you didn't let him move in the 3rd person, but it would have made a nice addition. The second level was annoying, because I couldn't tell which leaf was a platform, so that would have been a good fix.

Now for the controls. They are very unstable. The Player is unable to move in mid-air when biting, so that's definitely something to consider. The actual biting animation is mostly just for show, because it only stays open for less than a half-second, and you have to time it right to eat the prey, so again, something to consider. He also slides when he lands, and that is particularly annoying when landing near a cliff, which, when paired with the inability to move in mid-air, is instant death, so there are a lot of things to fix about the game. but, it's not that bad.
